Lmao, I’m all about the OR for cats just in general. But I can’t do that to a kitty someone has an attachment to.

Windy today, doesn’t look good for pest control. Sighted in the gun with 12 pumps and pretty happy with results. 10 was no good 14 was awful. Adams memory of pumping that thing until you couldnt anymore had me remembering the same thing, figured try to find the sweet spot for psi I guess.

I use black oil sunflower seeds. That is what they are coming to get under the bird feeders. Had one chew a hole thru the wooden garage service door to get at the seed inside. That incident made things difficult with mine and the squirrel’s relationship. I believe 22-23 of them left the neighborhood the first week after.

That chewed door is likely a red squirrel. Those things live a hard life around here. I literally keep a small brick stood on end at each garage door corner to keep them from chewing the doors bottom seals and weather stripping in the corners. I have the same regard for those red devils as I do crows.

If its a feral cat, take it out in the country and release it.

Seems like that is a popular practice: Don’t want to properly deal with something, just take it to the country and dump it. flame

Its against the law here to shoot them. And these bleeding heart idiots that capture the ferals and give them shots and get them “fixed” bring the damned things right back to where they were captured and release them again. At least in the country a bullet goes un-noticed pretty much. Our neighborhood has an abundance of them and I have honestly considered a bucket with a conibear and some puss and boots.

60% of the time, they work every time. wink

Loves this! 5mm or .22 gun will work better too.

1-3 today, horrendous shots on one and the last two actually bounced off the dang rats. Orange tip was laying right in the snow where it was shot. Seals may be shot or something, don’t care, guns got to go.

Went and checked out the many options today. Cabela’s might have alot more guns but fleet had a ton of pellet options. I’ll probably grab one this week for next weekend.

Many thanks for all the info waytogo

After having to deal with my rookie marksmanship and some recoil which is new to me, figuring out the artillery hold, and returning a terrible Gamo maxxim gun I impulsed bought at FF, finally settled in on a umarex synergis. Had some very nice $2-250 rifles picked out online but figured if I can’t get er done within 15yds with a cheaper rifle I have my own issues.

Red Gamo tipped pellets still the best firing out of this rifle, went through 6 types to make sure. Was hoping to get something heavier thru their lil skulls but these will work.

Got a new squirrel feeder setup on the tree, new bird feeder above for a lil added attraction. Let the carnage commence devil

5 shot group from 13yds, the flier was on me but still only 3/4″ off.

Lots of people on here who shoot 20x the distance with 10x the size actual bullets but this has been pretty fun process for this city kid. woot

I had to look it up. Interesting concept. How does it work?

The 12shot clip is spring loaded so you crank the cover clockwise and then insert pellets. As you pump the gun for next shot the spring pushes next pellet in place for when pin goes back up. It works good.

The gamo also had a 10 or 12 clip which I personally liked better, easier to see how many you had left, and #1 beef with the synergis is the gamo red fire wont fit in the dang clip they are too long not allowing cover to slip over. I do like the option of fast loading for the herds that come in. Time will tell if I can actually be effective with quick shots but will have to find another pellet that fits and shoots well. For now I load one pellet at a time.

Got some racoons messing up our allies now, along with the crows $hitting on everything never had so many issues with wildlife until I moved into Mpls.

Check out Gander in Eden Prairie if they are still open. Picked up a Gammo Whisperer for under a 100 bucks. That pellet gun is a blast. Have killed squirrels at 40 yards. Extremely accurate once you get the scope sighted in.

Unless they are being keep and eaten its considered wanton waste if I’m not mistaken – Might as well shoot them out of season as well.

Just so we are clear. I’ve got nothing against thinning out the tree rats. I need to so some at my home as well. I ave my cousin dropping off his Gamo pellet gun on his way up north this next weekend. I know its sighted in and will get the job done. I helped him mount the scope on it and sight in in late last fall.

I must be lucky. I’ve never trapped a cat. When the squirrels start bothering me, I use a rat trap zip tied to a brick that I bait with peanut butter. It’s quick, quiet, reusable and very effective.

I heard that some auto wire manufactures use peanut oil in the insulation extrusion process and that’s why squirrels like to chew on car wires.

At a party found a person who’s family absolutely loves squirrel meat. Not far from the house either.

Started a tally next to the window, the lines are getting thick!

Squirrels are in breeding mode right now. Our oak this morning had 8 of those suckers in it, 7 males all fighting over one female. The female died. Then a male bit it. Now the rest of the males can go to someone else’s trees to look for a little sex.

Before I could get boots on to collect the deceased an eagle came in and grabbed one and flew off. I was standing on the landing next to the driveway when that critter swooped in and grabbed one of the squigs that was still shaking. Pretty impressive to see. I see them grab injured ducks off the river behind us once in a while but never had one come in this close. Pretty cool to watch.

I know you are talking about pellet guns to take care of your squirrel problem but I always had luck with a blow dart gun. I also thought the blow dart gun was more amusing and you didn’t have to worry about biting into a pellet.

Nice. We skewered some to trees back as kids. Don’t have that option nowadays. Need a quick clean headshot so they don’t run over into neighbors and die, these Mpls lots are tiny

My son suggested that you take a cob of corn and tie a piece of string on it. Then tie the other end of the string to a hand grenade pin. Problem solved. rotflol

That aint a bad idea…. peace

I think we are actually reaching a population balance, they aren’t around all that much on the block anymore, hardly any to be honest. Goal achieved.

The amount of choices is too much. I have been researching for two weeks and still cant narrow it down to one gun. I have decided to go with .22 though. My current is a .20 Sheridan and I dont want to deal with the smaller .177 pellets. Getting older and less nimble.

I put in alot of hours of research, personally I was going to order the umarex octane elite but it was out of stock everywhere. Very good reviews across the board.

    Good luck finding the one.
