soldISO Reliable tiller 20-40hp Electric Start

    Looking to not break the bank but find a nice reliable tiller for winter fishing and to leave up at the cabin in the summer time. I would like to stay under the $1500 if I could.

    Years ago I bought a used Merc from Hallberg Marine. It’s still purring along. At that time they had a deal where they took in resort motors and sold them. Thats where I would start looking. Sorry I don’t have the phone number but they are in Wyoming Minnesota.

    Just my two cents.
    Hard to beat a Mercury 25 hp 2 stroke, you can find used for $1200-1500. I have one on a duck boat and another 25 hp pushing a Lund rebel 16.

    This ^^^. The last generation of 25 HP Merc 2 strokes were some of the best outboards under 50 HP ever made. Ever.

    They troll down like a dream, for a 2 stroke they sip fuel, they start easy, and they have excellent top end speed for a 25. I love the twist shift gear selection from the throttle handle. Simply put there’s nothing about these outboards that isn’t good. Only problem is finding a used one WITH electric start.

    My father has one on his boat, KWP on the forums has 2 of them, and I’d buy one in a minute if I had the need.

    when you say last generation merc outboards under 25 how many years does that go back.
