Looking into building a pitching mound for the boy. Looking for a cheaper option than what I found at Menards. Need about 12’x4’. Wondering if any of you fellow tradesmen here have some type of access to anything similar.

If he wants to be great… what he’s got right there will be enough to take it to the max!
I wouldn’t get too caught up in the color or material being “turf”. Our varsity team has 6 of them that simply have carpet with a short nap for a bit of grip then the rubber on them. Turf is absurdly expensive as are premade pitching mounds. The angle and height of the mound being realistic are far more important than what is covering it. Most mounds are dirt/clay anyways, so having turf with a nap to it doesn’t really give a real life advantage.

If you want the blades to stand up you’ll need to add infill (sand or beads), but it would work without it too.
