Some are not do to the roll over:

After extensive testing, we are pleased to confirm that all of our current products have no known issues for the GPS Week Rollover which commenced on April 6th. We will be releasing free software updates for the small number of affected legacy products. Click the link to find out if your device is affected. https://bit.ly/2IjdK6N

How can Lowrance say this: “we are pleased to confirm that all of our current products have no known issues for the GPS Week Rollover which commenced on April 6th. We will be releasing free software updates for the small number of affected legacy products.”

and this: “No currently available Lowrance products have any known issues with GPS week rollover.”

. . . and then follow it immediately with a table that shows the Hook2 9 and Hook2 12 inch models are affected? Those are both current models, listed as available on their website.

And what did they do wrong on the 9 and 12 inch models that they didn’t screw up on the 4/5/7 models? I guess I’m thankful I settled for a smaller screen.

I didn’t even know what the heck was meant by “GPS Rollover”, but its like the ole Y2K thing all over again, different issue, but similar result.
I have 3 GPS units, none of which are currently available models. 2 are fine (1 being the oldest which I find odd) and the newest one is fine.

I’m still trying to figure out what “a small number” is?

Two HDS Gen 2 units on my old man’s boat. Signed up to be notified when they have an update ready. Very interested to see if it will have an effect on the GPS accuracy, or just the date and time as they didn’t really specify in their write up regarding the rollover. Hopefully they don’t drag their feet updating the software for the “old” units.

I noticed my gen 2 quit displaying time a few months ago. I hope it fixes that. I have never updated my units because they have worked perfectly until now. Now I’m worried about some features not working like they used to.

Oh well. Gotta do it now.

If you have a #Lowrance Gen2 Touch, Gen2, Elite 4,5,7 or Hook 4,5,7,9,12 You need to install a software patch to fix your GPS.

What is a GPS week rollover?

The Global Positioning System (GPS) has its own date and time scale based on counting weeks, and seconds within a week. However, the field that contains the week number is limited to 1024 weeks, a GPS rollover event occurs when this counter reaches week 1023 and then rolls back to week 0. This happens about every 20 years. The GPS week rollover event happened on April 6th, 2019.

Note: the GPS patch is not available for the Hook 9 & 12.

Go the the Lowrance download webpage below and download the specific GPS patch for your unit. https://downloads.lowrance.com/?fbclid=IwAR2DyD5DVHg6IT_xkmwuezoly1Q-tNShJNi3rhDZqEyloqTYD2Hj7jxh75o

Made the updated to two HDS7 Gen 2’s this past weekend, was very easy and only took about 5 minutes to do both graphs.

Thanks for this warning. I had no idea this happened. Updated HDS Gen 1s last night.
