I would say fake, but if it is real there is the new state record.
October 26, 2016 at 7:38 am #1647130If you look at the size of his finger you will see it’s not that big. He is holding way out in front at arms length.
nhammInactiveRobbinsdalePosts: 7348October 26, 2016 at 7:40 am #1647133This holding fish out the absolutely farthest you can from your body is getting ridiculous.
It seems to be the norm nowadays sadly. Can’t get a true feel for the greatness of alot of these fish.

Exactly, his 2 joints of his finger are probably 2″ at least.. making the neckdown of the tail about 3″…using is finger as reference, it is a 21″ fish, no record.

agreed

esoxhunterPosts: 44October 26, 2016 at 8:48 am #1647161Who takes a fish picture with their face covered up? Witness protection program???
October 26, 2016 at 9:16 am #1647170Real, and definitely posed to make look as big as possible.

October 26, 2016 at 9:20 am #1647174That’s the “In-Fisherman” hold technique for the camera…. awesome fish though
October 26, 2016 at 9:29 am #1647175According to the FB posts it was 22″. Not sure why he would lie, and take a pic of it on a scale w/ weights or someone holding it down…I caught a 21.5″ that went 6.5 lbs in the spring, and this fish looks significantly fatter. Either way it’s a hoss, and I don’t understand why so many people hate on other people’s fish…

Jealousy. I 100% believe the picture and weight. In fact, a little surprised it didn’t weigh more.

I was going to say this with the caveat that despite the arm extension and wide angle effect, it’s a huge bass. I believe the scale at 7#.
I also think it is more the “fisheye” effect of the wide angle (suspect it was taken with a GoPro) than the way he is holding it that makes it look bigger than 7#. His upper arms appear to be fairly straight up and down which means his arms are bent at the elbow, the normal way you would hold a fish and look natural.

IMO people be hatin bc it becomes more about the look at me aspect rather than look at this sweet a$$ fish. The 2nd pic you get a lil more of the true beastliness of that fish, the first one does no justice and is taken for the wow factor.
Give me something I can judge it against and let the fish show itself off.
October 26, 2016 at 9:57 am #1647181Looks 100% legit to me with an exaggerated hold, not that there’s anything wrong with that. I’ve got a pic of a 22″+ pre-spawn smallie from a few years back that looked very similar. My guess at the time was that it would’ve gone around 7.5 #s, I’ll see if I can dig it up and post for reference.

Not sure why people would feel that way, it seems like a pretty natural pose?
At least his is not gazing lovingly into the fishes eyes like Euro trash!
October 26, 2016 at 10:01 am #1647183Who hates ? The poster asked if it was real.. yes it is a real fish, but the masked man is making it out to be bigger than it is. If that makes me jealous or a hater, then I am… I say if you believe you have to or should hold a fish out at arms length to show how big it really is it and snap half pictures of it on a scale, I say that makes you a sucker !
October 26, 2016 at 10:41 am #1647203Wow! It’s definitely real, it just looks to be a gopro picture. (they have a really wide angle lens) If he was trying to do a “look at me pose” he probably would’ve taken his sun gator off.
“lets see how small we can make this fish look in the pictures”- said no-one ever
October 26, 2016 at 10:41 am #1647204Boy, do I love to see pictures of big fish, of all kinds and poses!
October 26, 2016 at 10:48 am #1647208I believe it to be real! Just shy of the state record 8 pounder. Beautiful Big Bass!!!
skinnywaterPosts: 118October 26, 2016 at 11:10 am #1647217I believe it! My friend who has Lundeens Tackle Castle on the SW side of Mille Lacs has a 7#+ smallie on the wall that came with the shop when he got it. They are definitely in there. Also, it was caught on Oct 24th, not exactly warm out.
October 26, 2016 at 12:49 pm #1647238Nice fish fore sure. The hold definitely makes it look bigger.
My personal opinion on fish photos is that you should make the fish look as big as it looked to you when you first brought it out of the water.
Have you ever had that awe factor when you net a big fish only to find out your photo makes the fish look small? I want to remember a fish by how I felt when I first saw it.
October 26, 2016 at 1:25 pm #1647246I saw it on FB and thought it was legit and a Nice Fish. I figure a guy can take a pic of a fish however he wants too, He’s the one that caught it. Make it fun I say! Who cares what others think.

Probably people that utilize a wide angle lens to enlarge fish and plaster pictures on the internet
