I’ll be adding a 24 volt transom mount this spring and old school guys still talk up the Vantage. 80 pd thrust is fine as I can add another battery. Any thoughts from this group of experts ?

Is there any other option besides a gas kicker?

I’m not aware of a better trolling motor. The only con is the forward to reverse mechanism is pita with gloves on.

What is the vantage actually used for? Does it somehow push a boat better than a terrova would pull it?

It’s a transom mount. They’re very common on tillers cuz everything is at the back (electronics, outboard) making it incredibly easy to stay pinned on fish. But I think the main reason is because backtrolling is way easier from the stern than the bow…

    I wouldn’t own a tiller boat without a Vantage.
