Is the Cabelas brand gone?

I understand Bass Pro bought Cabelas a few years ago, Im wondering the the “Cabelas” brand is pretty much gone now. There is still a Cabelas website, but Im not finding much on there that actually still has the Cabelas name on it. Granted it may still be the same clothing or product and just rebranded, but I always preferred the Cabelas name over Bass Pro, maybe its because Cabelas seemed to cater to the northern part of the country with their products
Case in point, Cabelas Guideware rain gear was always top notch. Its not Cabelas anymore. Just sad to see a big name go away I guess

Pretty much Cabelas products are gone. They still label some items “Guidewear” but I don’t know if Cabelas name is on it anymore. Just sad. cry

Its Bass Pro Guideware now (at least for the raingear)

I got a big fancy Bass Pro flyer in the mail this week.

    The Cabela’s name isn’t far from being a goner…

It seems like very few of their products even have Gore Tex in it anymore. I still think of Gore Tex as the gold standard for rain gear and for good hunting clothing.

I personally would not be looking at either at this point. Better options out there.

My flier went right into the trash.

The good “old” Cabelas is dead. It’s generally Scheels for my outdoor gear nowadays.

The last few years before the acquisition by Bass Pro the Cabela’s private label product quality was going downhill. For many years I bought their boots, waders, some fishing gear and more. I stopped when the quality was obviously inferior to the old products.

I agree with the comments above:
Cabela’s had products fisherman from the north would use
Cabela’s Guidewear rain suits were absolutely first rate. After many years my rain suit is in great shape. I hope to never have to buy a replacement rain suit as I don’t want to spend close to $400 for one.

Agreed, i dont remeber the last time I ordered/bought any fishing gear from Cabelas, its been Scheels for a while now, much better selection for the type of fishing I do

Exactly why I haven’t been there in years.

I still buy plenty of items from Bass Pro/Cabelas. I miss the Cabelas brand too (especially the great sales) but it is what it is.
I buy alot of crankbaits from Bass Pro/Cabelas and just this week bought a Quest Ulterra from there. I buy from other places as well and where I buy depends on availability and price. Bass Pro/Cabelas is generally very competitive on prices .

I agree. It’s unfortunate that the Cabelas brand name items have all but disappeared but I still shop there. They have way more tackle than any other in person retailer, and it’s not even close. Scheels currently has none on their shelves.

Unfortunately it’s been gone for a few years now. Like others have stated, quality went down and replaced with cheaper products and materials but still charging full price for everything. Their boots are a prime example.

Besides that, they seem to be higher priced on most products vs their competitors. I still have a Cabelas CC which earns points for Cabelas gear but there’s nothing there that interests me much anymore.

Sure am glad Scheels has some great stuff.

yea i dont know Gim…..i just meandered through FF this past week…and naturally walk around the hunting and fishing dept. they had 6 rows of summer fishing stuff out….on both sides the isle….one row was nuttin but raps.

i havent been in Cabelas/Bass for 3 years and that was only because i had a gift card. i can usually find what i want in the little mom and pop bait stores.

i did just pick up a new pair of Lacrosse insulated hunting boots at FF for $149.00. 2000 gram..shelf price was 210.00/ they have a 30% deal going on right now!

I’m with Gim on this. I can find the tackle I want there whenever I go. That is NOT the same with FDF or Scheels. I cab order online sure but I love walking the aisles.

I still have quite few old Cabelas clothes that won’t wear out.

The last few years before the acquisition by Bass Pro the Cabela’s private label product quality was going downhill.

Product quality and stock on hand in the store at Owatonna was huge factor there. And the store was basically a mess. Clothes on the floor under racks, tackle all mixed up. Never having some items that should have been commonplace were all issues that kept me from returning.

Cabelas has at least 20 rows of tackle. No one else is remotely close. And it’s out all year round. Scheels removes theirs during the winter. That’s why I favor Cabelas.

I like Scheels because they actually put money back into the community. Most “box” stores just take our money and distribute it in investors.

Similarly I don’t like to buy groceries at Hy-Vee because of their comparative high prices, but do go there occasionally because they put a lot of money back into the community (especially youth sports and I have no skin in that game being in my sunset years).

Cabela’s is toast after the buyout. They are at the bottom of the list when I think to look for something outdoor related. Scheels is night and day better. Anything with the Bass Pro label on it nowadays is garbage. Their fishing tackle selection sucks. They essentially try and get rid of all private label brands and then sell their own made in china knock off version.

same here, I’d rather drive 2 hours to Scheels than 1 hour to bass pro.

The Cabelas in PdC is terrible. Empty pegs for weeks. Never restock. If you ask for an item the answer is “We have 57 back in the distribution center. Will have it here in 30 minutes.”

That’s exactly the issue I encounter at Scheels in the winter. They’ve removed all of their open water fishing tackle for ice fishing crap. It’s gone by October and doesn’t reappear until at least March.

I kind of forgot Cabela’s still exists already. The last time I went to the Rogers one must have been at least several years ago and it seemed like they took most of the stuff out and just moved the shelves further apart.

Just left scheels and they had plenty of tackle out. But I also still shop at bass pro once and a great while. They still have good deals from time to time

I’ve seen pegs for fishing line empty for 10 weeks at PdC. Just stupid the employees(can’t call them workers) don’t refill items. flame

I stop in Cabelas in Woodbury, primarily for .22 ammo. They seem to have a super sized amount of the CCI Quiet Rounds with the fracturing bullets.

Don’t think he fishes in the winter on ice or out of a boat.
