Looks like it was so bad the NFL blocked it from the website.

The last couple years I’ve liked the game less and less. I used to love the sport and would watch almost any game that was on TV. Now I only watch my team, and even that is getting tested. I flipped over to golf a lot yesterday.

They have it out for Mathews. The hit Rodgers took earlier was full body weight on him no flag, neither hit was bad in my opinion. Three games three roughing the passer penalties on him. I find myself finding better things to do with my time.
The NFL is losing this fan

    <sarcasm disclaimer>
How about letting the players play like they’re a human missile. Charge a health care fee for every ticket or merchandise sold so fans don’t have a guilty conscience when any arbitrary player becomes a mush brain with a broken down body at age 45. Obviously not for the player’s sake but for their families.

This hit on Rodgers was NOT called

Likely because he was spun down to the ground, rather than lifted head on. I don’t agree with the rule, but it is the rule and is being enforced correctly. Matthews deserved the penalty for his hit on Smith (as well as the one on Cousins last week), and by definition Payne could have been flagged as well. I don’t think anyone “has it out” for Matthews, but his years of being cheap are catching up. Plus he feels the need to lift and drive into the ground on every tackle, which is what they outlawed.

As for if it’s time to stop watching, not for me but it is getting close, and the amount of time I spend watching the NFL is decreasing.

    Easy solutions

Flag football for the QB. THEN, the QB can not throw the ball away, shovel pass, or hand off when there is contact

I’m sure the NFL can afford the accessories for the uniforms

Nope. The beauty of the NFL is the parity which is pretty non existent in other pro sports. Any given Sunday is soooooo true and this year is by far the most un predictable yet.
Rules are pretty dumb this year but I don’t care and won’t lose sleep at night over it.
Anyone still alive in their loser pools? I am pretty sure many got wiped out this week

Sounds like William Hayes of the Dolphins tore his ACL trying to abide by this new rule and he is out for the season.

I think the league is creating these rules for future litigation as a defence showing how much they care about their players.

Luckily Rogers didn’t get hurt or there would be the new Rogers 2.0 rule. laugh

I think it’s humorous to watch the very team that whined all last season about the same hits, are now whining about being penalized for those hits this season.

Has anyone on this forum ever said the only real sport left is “All Star Wrestling”?

This “Professional “football stuff is as fake as “Professional” wrestling. Billion $ industry and it’s not corrupt at all. Hmm?

I might bite if you can lay out a scenario on how you can get 11 offensive, 11 defensive, 11 special team players to all decide to throw a game. At the going rate of $5- $10 million for mediocre quarterbacks what are you going to pay to get him to throw a game?

I’ve said it a million times but the NFL is preparing for a class action lawsuit that will end the corporation completely. This may come in 5 or 10 or 20 years from now but Goodell is an attorney by trade and can see this coming. Yes it is super annoying but people need to realize this.

qb’s are cash cows. financially, nobody cares that a DE ripped his ACL avoiding a tackle. But when rogers went down the #’s were terrible. the NFL is its last year of tv contracts and negotiations need good #’s.

The problem for the nfl is that the refs are now deciding outcomes of games and the rule created makes the difference between a legal hit and an illegal hit infinitesimal. There is no way matthews could of done anything much different given these things called momentum and gravity. and when similar plays go unflagged and there is like minutia of differences that the NFL uses to justify it. Its not good for the league.

I gave up about six years ago. Before that, I slowly lost interest. The loss of interest mostly came from rule changes designed to cater to fantasy leagues. That was the beginning of the end for me, going back ten years or more.
To see if it had gotten better, I tried watching some games last year. Just didn’t have it in me to go back this year. It wasn’t fun to watch.

My waning interest started as the game changed to following players instead of following teams. It’s a new game. Follow all the players and pick your own team.
Then there have been rolling rule changes to run up scores. This was done in the name of fantasy leagues. Run up scores and the fans following players will love it. The first real change here was making it impossible to defend against the pass. A receiver was not to be touched. I get the rule about not crushing a defenseless receiver but they went way beyond that.

Next they started protecting the QB more and more. To the point it has become downright silly. I bet the next move is to red shirt the QB and you can’t hit him unless he has tucked in the ball, or crossed the line of scrimmage.

The league panders to fans following players more than teams and the rules were designed to run up scores to make those same fans happy with their leagues.

Bonus, amazing how much stuff I can do on a Sunday now that I’m not watching football for 12 hours starting at 11am.

    At least we have hockey.

NFL reminds me of politicians making rules that lead to unintended consequences.

I’m also a huge believer that if Fantasy Football leagues and online betting didn’t exist,,, the NFL would a shell of what it is now. Would anyone in MN or WI watch a Thursday night game between the Browns and Jets? Not a chance. BUT, I have Jarvis Landry so I tune in.

They sure do help a lot walleyebuster. I almost always bet on thursday and monday night games, not because im interested in the game, but because I want a reason to be interested in the game. Had Browns and the under on Thursday and Bucs and the over on Monday. Theres always next week to start winning… crazy

Jerry Jones and Robert Kraft with major investments in DraftKings.
Conflict of interest much. Your a player and you bet 8n the game you get in trouble but your an owner and invest in a gambling franchise that plays of the other buisiness so that player has access to gambling is ok?

That train left the station several years ago…..

    -It’s entertainment, pure and simple
-I can’t afford to go see their product,
-Don’t care for the injuries and long term health issues,
-Commissioner is nauseating, owners are greedy,
-Rather be outside on a Sunday afternoon.

But, I sure do love my stadium….
