Is it time for faster and bigger for crappies?

    Caught a nice thick crappie today while bass fishing. Hit a safety pin style spinner in 3fow, thing was moving along pretty well.
    Went back with a jig and bobber and got nothing. Could have been a rogue or maybe its time to bring out the 2 and 3 inch crappie cranks.Ideas?

    I’ve caught bonus crappies the last three weeks while trolling for walleyes. #5 shad raps and #4 salmo hornets at 2.2-2.5mph.
    For me, if the crappies are post spawn im more than likely using a moving bait of some kind.

    Been using hybrid soft plastics (as usual for me) rigged on either a 1/24 or 1/16 unpainted ball head jig.

    caught a few crappies and some big gills while pulling #4 hornets for eyes sunday evening. not uncommon for our lake in June/July though.
