In the metro here today I saw lots of mallards and geese bobbing and eating(vegetation, bugs, both?) like crazy in a roadside pond. It was only one out of many small roadside ponds/marshes/small lakes tho. Seems like it could still be a good sign. Haven’t been fishing in a week so no info on bites. And when I say good sign I don’t mean for ice conditions lol

I think regardless of your age, this is the most unusual/warm winter any of us have seen. I took my boat out on an 800 acre lake near Hayward on December 29th. I’m still limited to the lakes that I can fish and after the rain haven’t been on one with more than 4″ of ice.

Hopefully the cold snap this weekend opens up(maybe I shouldn’t use that term!) some lake options, even if it is still just foot travel.

Agree. I am oldish and I am of the opinion this is the mildest start to winter I have seen in my life. I have seen this same lack of snow many times but not the accompanying extreme and relentless warm temps.

The grass on my lawn still has a fair amount of green color to it. Pretty crazy to see that into January.

When I drove through outing last Thursday Roosevelt had some open water. Today it looked all locked up
