Hunting in the metro area at home tonight and I want to bring both the bow and muzzleloader to the stand. Both weapons are legal right now, but I am not sure if I can have both in stand at the same time. Anyone know if this is legal?

As long as you have the tags I don’t see how it could be an issue.
DTTom SawvellInactivePosts: 9559November 7, 2018 at 10:07 am #1808256I think I’d be checking on that. I don’t think its legal to have both in possession at one time no matter what tags you’re carrying..
November 7, 2018 at 11:34 am #1808280Great one to call the DNR on. Even more so because I’d think that near the metro if you fire a shot, there’s a 50/50 chance some cellphone busybody who just bought a tract home in the area will call you in because she just assumes that hunting with guns is illegal everywhere in the commuter belt.
I can’t find anything in the regs that prohibits it, but as they always say the regs are just a summary.

November 7, 2018 at 11:39 am #1808281I believe you cannot have a gun in possession while bow hunting, except a sidearm for protection. I don’t agree with it, cause I actually did it till I read something. I figured, close shot bow, long shot rifle. Had both tags, plus one bonus in a 3 deer area. I never called, just quit doing it. At my house I have shot multiple deer, ducks, geese and pheasants along with a fair amount of trap and range shooting with firearms without an issue. We do have 9 new neighbors coming soon that might not like it, but the rest of the neighbors have accepted it.

Is it though? I’m confused on whether that holds true for the entire archery season or just the youth deer and early anterless seasons, since it’s a bullet point under the October 18-21 dates.

I’m afraid that a person who has an archery license cannot be in the field with a firearm while archery deer hunting.

Do you not have a firearm tag?
