Is it better to buy 1 two man flip or 2 one man flips?

I am wanting to buy a flip shelter. Last year, my dad and I decided to purchase a hub shelter and now want to purchase a flip shelter becuase how easier it would be to move. We are interested in the two man but we were wondering if two one man shelters would be better becuase they are lighter weight and either one of us can move as we want to. Let me know what you think. Thanks and tight lines.

If the Clam one mans have that zip together door in the back, like there bigger houses do. I think that would be cool, That way you can still chat and pass drinks back and forth………..

Its nice having 1 of each but if you get a 2 man get one that you can remove the seat so its lighter for 1 man.

If I can do it over again, which I might, I would rather get 2 one man instead of one 2 man. Most 1 man shelter are small so I would rather go with the otter xt1200 cabin a oversized 1 man. I currently have the lodge and my brother and I hardly use it as we hole hop a lot. On those cold days I wished we had two shelters so we can be more mobile. So if you have the space to haul it get 2.

I would say that since you have the pop up two one man shelters will be better than one two man

I guess the question is… is about the fishing or spending time with your dad…?

I would go with two 1 man shelters. You can spread out and cover more area, if one of you goes alone it will be easier to pull, and you can always place them together if you want.

The only downside I can think of is you will each need to pull one.

I went with a single 2 man (Lodge) mainly because my GF and I fish together and I have a wheeler to pull it.

I’ve got a lodge and two cottages, one without the cross link seat so the cottages can stack together to save space. I use the cottages far more than the lodge.

As to whether a 1man or 2man shack is better, I’d say it has to do with the quality of the fishing. If the fishing is great, a 2man shack is more fun IMO. If you need to seek out a decent bite, or the bite is spotty, I’d prefer to fish out of a 1man. I don’t want my buddy jigging @ my fish and I’d want to be able to turn on a dime to find em as needed.

Good points above. Another consideration might be what kind of fish are you targeting? I definitely like my Otter Cottages for chasing walleye so we can spread out over the structure or area, we just catch more fish that way. I can haul three in the back of my long-box truck. But for schooling perch it really doesn’t seem to matter as much and when the perch are biting a bit of commotion doesn’t hurt. The Otter Lodge is a great 2-man flip.

you saying you want to sell the lodge to me kent?

I would possibly do…once I get the approval from the other half of the owner. I bought the lodge myself because I was the only one interested in ice fishing. Then my brother joined and said its only fair that he paid for half of it.
If I had a definite fishing partner back then I would have settled for 2 cottages instead.

Get two 2-man shelters that way you have more room for gear and can fish more comfortably.

My buddy and I switched to 2 one man shelters, gave the 2 man to his son…just too crowded for 2 big guys in a 2 man…

x2 Are you and your dad that driven to find and ice the most fish? If it’s not purely about finding and catching fish I would go the single 2 man house.

Many days are nice enough to do some hole hopping. Go out, hole hope for a while, then come back to warm up in the two man. Other days you may have to move together as a pair if it’s really cold. Maybe some days it’s less about the fishing than the social aspect.

I bought a two man because my wife and I like to fish together and talk. When I go to Wisconsin to visit my son, I like the two man so he and I can spend some quality time together fishing, visiting and having a couple cold ones.

If you are strictly about catching fish, then 2-1 man flip shelters are probably better for you.

I have a one man and a two man lodge. I seem to use the one man more. I am considering selling both and going to a new xt1200 cottage.
