Other thing the helix series is missing is that it’s not touchscreen. I don’t care how much better the SI image is than my lowrance. Touch screen makes using the unit so much easier.

I just used my new garmin setup for the first time last weekend. Livescope is insane….I could see crappies suspended over weeds in 8’ of water. Watched them swim in and out of view and was able to cast right to them. The clarity was awesome.
I didn’t spend a ton of time with side imaging but it seemed comparable to humminbird.
Feels like an upgrade to me but I’m sure they will continue to one up each other over time.
I spent a day mapping a lake last weekend and was dragging an sr7 behind the boat for s&g while watching it on the scope while I was mapping a large 5-7′ shallow flat area. Pretty quickly I had a follower, then two, then three! I gave a slight drop back to my lure.. Bingo bingo bango.. fish on! I proceeded to map this area extensively..

This is likely a given for the next generation Helix…not much else they can do with their current tech? maybe “Super Duper MEGA Awesome Imaging”??

Ive had touch screen on my Onix and now my Solix. Rarely use the touch option.. but thats just me. I suppose if I started with it, it would be different, but I dont see the speed others talk about while navigating the menus..

I am with you I do not even like the touch screen on my I-Pilot Link remote.
It is coming. Borrowed this image from a facebook post.
This is getting crazy. Holst just featured a Humminbird with a 360 set up for ice…, now is this mega live going to be adaptable to ice? I could see installing the transducer on a mast supporting it in the hole. Imagine the days before electronics…

I don’t have to imagine those days. I remember them.
Although I’m 60, I’m a late comer to ice fishing. If it weren’t for electronics, even a simple flasher I would have never been able to bring myself to sitting over a hole on a bucket in the middle of winter, lol
Well it’s alot easier to catch fish with today’s electronics than it was just waiting for a bite to know there were even fish around or checking depths with a lead weight.
Ive got a HB mega SI gen2. I like it. I stare at a vex liar all winter. Yes, I know they are an important tool to catch fish. I’d rather look at the lake and gals in pontoons than spend too much time and money looking at my graph’s bells and whistles. I’m sure I’m in the minority. Oh,well.
Ok. Here goes nothing. I bought a Ray Marine Axiom 7 a couple years back with their 3D live and side imaging. I’m building a rotating mast and hanging the transducer on it and mounting the head up top. I will power it off my ATV. This should be interesting and whether it successful or a total bust I will do a report with photographs. Wish me luck.
