Is Fish and Chips no longer a setting for Navionics

I have used Navionics for several years. This year when I renewed, I was sent a new sd chip (storage disk). After loading it, I went into setting it up on my Elite 7 ti. In the settings for sonar, there is no place to select “fish & chip” now. Am I doing something wrong?

My thoughts exactly. My only idea about this is that Fish and Chips should always be served on newspaper…

I thought this was a serious forum that helped others with their Lowrance questions. I guess the precise setting is “fish & chip”.

You can go to several youtube videos about setup of Navionics on a Lowrance and see it.

I guess I will look else where for serious replies.

I thought sonar charts was the publicly generated data? Wasn’t Fish n Chips the lowest feature chip, sorta like what they call HotMaps now? I’ve always been slightly confused by Navionics offerings..

The manual shows the option as simply Navionics.

Munchy, that helps. I didn’t see anything that said they had changes their menu options but I did pick Sonar Charts.

Fishwater, you do pick Navionics but I think it is under “view” you also pick “sonar chart”. If my memory is right.

    Thanks.

Here is a youtube showing what I am talking about.

I guess the exact setting is “fish & chip:. I thought this was a serious forum to help those with questions. If you not familiar with this setting, you don’t know a lot about Lowrance.

    Guess I’ll look elsewhere.

If you want a “serious answer” an email directly to the company is going to be your best option….

You should probably stay away from any internet forum if you don’t like a few light hearted replies. That is especially true if you haven’t contributed one single thing to said forum.

I’m having the same issue with the tarter sauce setting on my Humminbird.

That’s because tarter sauce on a bird is disgusting.

I watched your video, and I’m not a Lowrance guy anymore but, I have a serious question.
I would believe you would buy a mapping card to see the underwater contours, yes?
Then why would they have a button to turn the contours off?
Any more when I’m on a lake I hate to be underway and drive blinded.

There are times when the maps are used for navigation and the contours are not needed (and get in the way)

Ok, fair enough. Just seems to me that seeing the contours are a large part of navigation, finding the channel, side tracking underwater humps too close to the surface without being seen in a lake.

They switched it from Fish n Chip to SonarChart, to simplify things between the mobile app which used the term SonarChart. The differnce between the Navionics base map, SonarChart turned off. The SonarCHart layer is the mapping layer that changes as sonorlogs are uploaded to Navionics, they then review the logs and then processed into the SonarCHart layer. This is what you update when you update your mobile app and mapping card. you have to re subscribe yearly to this.

Thanks for the serious reply Kirt and Denny and those that offered assistance.

Denny, when you first plug the sd chip into the Lowrance, you are still seeing the generic Lowrance maps. To see the Navionics data, you had to select Navionics and then select fish & chip to get the map with contour lines. When I renewed this year, Navionics sent me a new chip and it was like starting over again. But I didn’t see the settings I was used to and so thought I would check in here and ask.

    Thanks for the help.
