Every time I try to put something on here it just refreshes and it’s gone. Frustrating

The truck I drive at work most of the time is a 23 3500 Chevy. Spend a good amount of time in that thing especially in the winter.

    Oh I see now.

You sure talk a lot of trash about trucks without even owning one???

I have a 14 2500 Chevy. Used it lots until the last 5 years. Now it just pulls the ice castle a couple times a winter and put the boat in the lake in the spring and pulls it out in the fall. Lucky to put 1,000 miles a year on it now. 200,000 miles and one transmission.

    Hey now

That’s called being caught in the cross fire.

No experience for me with a diesel but when I ordered my 1/2 ton crew Sierra I really wanted the baby Duramax. Buddy talked me out of it. I ordered a 6.2 and funny my buddy bought a Silverado with the you guessed it baby Duramax. He absolutely loves it. He does go on longer drives far more than I do. He gets up to 28 mpg which is just plain ridiculous. I have no complaints with my 6.2 at all. Sure fun to drive and pulls excellent. When I drive it’s similar as the OP and I pull a similar sized trailers and he doesn’t need a diesel for that much less an HD.

2500 gasser would probably suit your needs really nicely. I just made that move, and I don’t think I could ever go back to a 1500.

I got an 2020 L8T Silverado. Test drove a 6.4 hemi ram 2500 and it was a better ride but also a brand new 2024 with no miles on it. Stuck with the Chevy because I got it for a good price and don’t feel like spending more for no real benefit. If I were buying new i’d consider both and find the best deal on one or the other.

I certainly don’t have any practical need for a diesel, have driven a few. Would love to have a 2007.5 Silverado 2500 diesel but only if I drove down south and bought one that hasn’t seen the mandatory state-sanctioned salt bath every winter.
