Can you create a waypoint on the humminbird from the ipilot remote if they are connected with ipilot link?

Yes, push and hold the spot lock button.
I use it all the time. Rarely ever create a wp on the unit.

Man the more I hear about the ipilot more I want one.

I am the same way but the advantage of pressing mark on the unit is you get the snapshot of what is on the screen too if you have it turned on and a blank sd card in one of the slots. Regardless of which way I make the point I usually will go back in at the end of the day and rename them and change the icons so I know why I put a point there.
