Iphone Be Gone!! Any good products to use to keep phone topside in the future.

Tried to sneak in what was most likely my last ice fishing trip of the season. All I found was chocolate Milk Water, 3 Dink Perch, and of course the kicker dropped my Iphone down the hole. Luckily the phone was a POS. Not enuf memory. Barely could get it to charge. Was shopping for a replacement anyway – SO NO BIGGIE. For the future though are there any good products out there to keep the phone topside or tricks or hacks people use? I try to keep the phone in the pocket but you know the wifey is gonna text or call at some point and I have to use Navionics from time to time to. Would be nice to know whats out there for products. I’ve had many close calls but this phone was on a suicide mission.

I’ve posted this remedy numerous times on the this forum.

    Pay attention people. roll

This “low tech” gadget has a lanyard, wear it as a necklace or around your wrist. Your choice.

If the lanyard would unlikely somehow fail, the water resistant floating case will keep it within an easy reach.

No more excuses to not reply to the wife, unless you’d rather not.

In which case…pretend you never saw this. tongue

Bought one of those on my last stop before hitting the BWCA last summer. Absolute garbage, never made it past the portaging on day 1.

Cant remember which video, but I saw a guy on youtube that had a product made of bungee cord that held his phone and strapped around his chest and shoulders. Phone was held into your chest when not in use, but when you wanted to send a text you could hold it out in front of you while still strapped around you.

I’ll have to find the video cause I did a terrible job of explaining it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Step 1: Leave the phone in your truck or in a waterproof compartment of the boat

People fished for centuries without a cell phone up until the last 15-20 years without issue. You cannot lose or damage what isn’t with you. You may find a sense of relief after doing it a few times.

Don’t use your phone on the ice and it won’t get dropped down the hole. It’s really the only way to guarantee this won’t happen again.

Another option would be to step away from the hole if you need to use the phone. Simple solutions for simple problems.

Are you typically in a perm? If so, get some of these

Nothing more to add, this says it all.

I have used this UGO bag for mine ice fishing, at the beach, on the boat, and camping over the last year. Been really impressed with it. It has a clear side which you can see your screen and also still type on your phone while it’s in the case. Unfortunately some of its components are from China so they are currently sold out.

A ziplock kitchen bag with just enough air to float the phone also works. You will see and hear just fine. It’s slippery but safe and cheap.

I can imagine using a binoculars harness would work for this, assuming you could find a way to attach the phone to the harness.

Got one of these this winter and have been very happy with it. Will likely use boat fishing too during the summer.

That Phone Tether looks like a great idea. I think I’ll be giving that a try.
    Thanks

Duct tape it to a swim noodle. Also provides a great extension for the all important selfie.
