I have a 2017 Ion X 8″ auger. Since purchasing I have had issues with the cast iron blade assembly breaking. I am now on my third replacement part. I would like to try using the ultralight 8″ or 10″ auger bit but I can’t find anything online if that bit is compatible with my auger head. Any input on that or a different bit that’s compatible would be appreciated, thanks!

K-Drill will fit if you use a Universal extension / adapter.

    I have the X.
I was having issues with the cast aluminum getting so packed with ice I never knew if I was going to be able to drill all day or only 1/2 a hole till the aluminum bit froze up and I had to chip the bit to be able to continue drilling for an uncertain amount of time till it happened again.

I contacted CS and they gave me some song and dance anout a new coating… I tried it bit it was just bullshit as expected, no difference. Contacted CS again and they sent me an entirely new auger with the composite bit after I proved destruction of my original auger motor and auger bit.

So far, so good but I am leery about the plastic blade holder bit durability. CS was great for me, have you began that paper trail about your issues? Maybe they will send a new plastic auger bit or even the original style steel ring. If my new plastic bit does not perform I am going to ask for the original steel design and just be done with it.

Was that the old green bottom ring that was recalled? The newer one had a black ring.

The 2017 IonX is compatible with the ultralight bit.

Thank you for the reply’s! I directly contacted Ardisam in Cumberland WI and I qualified for a replacement bit. They sent me the Ultralight bit free of charge. Great fast online customer service. I’ve drilled around 50 holes with around four inches of ice very well as expected. I’ll see how she does below 0° in February.
