Ion Gen 2 Battery Charger

Hey all

I have a gen 2 Ion auger and the battery charger got wet and doesnt work. I have been trying to get a new one but Ion has been out all summer and the latest date is early December. I havent been able to get a charge on my battery since last winter but they tell me it ahpuld be fine. Does anyone know of an alternative charger for the 6 amp batteries? The lady at Ion tells me it has to be their charger but its just applying voltage to the batyery to charge it right? I would think there has to be another brand charger that will work. Example, my Mac Tools impact charger will charge my Dewalt drill batteries and visa versa.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

let me double check tonight. all my ice gear got stolen last year so I ended up with two chargers.

was just looking at their website. It looks like they are going with two 4a-h batts now with the Gen2 instead of one 6a-h. no wonder they’re not stocking the 6a-h charger anymore.

I wonder the reasoning to change to 2 x 4ah vs the single 6ah???

i was wondering that too. i guess its a better deal since you’re getting 8a-h of capacity for the same price. maybe they just wanted to compete for the longest runtime and still keep the weight at a minimum.

when its marketed it will likely be marketed as having 8a-h of capacity but they will only reference the weight of the drill plus one battery!
