Went out yesterday made about 8-10 holes and my battery crapped out. Happened at the end of last season I just thought I had not charged fully. Anyone have a short battery life with the original Ion?
Can think of what I could have done wrong??

When did you buy it? Should have a three year warranty.

Mine is still running strong, it’s an original original battery and unit (2012)…. mrgreen

Damn near a collector as far as battery powered augers and batteries go!

I’d call Ardism. They’re a good company and will likely take care of you.

Iv had mine since the year the put reverse on the ION iv drilled a lot of holes with it and still going strong but I don’t store it it out side for long periods of time always bring it in side whenever get home from fishing and try keep it in a worm place as possible when on the ice and put it on the charger when done and try not over charg it, once a year around July I’ll put it on the charger and take it off when green stops flashing

Called Ardisam, out of warranty. Apparently it was a year old on the shelf at Cabelas! The Ardisam C/S was good! Hopefully the the 5amp is much better and lasts longer! Still not sure what I could have done, charged up kept warm at all times!

    Thanks for the replys!

Maybe you just got a bad. With all the competition out there they could be sitting on the shelves too long. Mine is from when they were the hot auger to have and still works like new at 7 years. One thing I’ve never done is charge it in the summer like some do. Not sure it hurts but don’t think it helps. Hope the new one lasts longer

i’m still on my original Ion batteries from 7 years ago, still cut through 25 holes like butter yesterday and only dropped 1 led. I store them indoors year round, always top them off after use and throw them on the charger for a bit once or twice during the non-ice months…

I still remember all the flack us original owners took on how we spent so much money on an auger with a battery that will only last a season or two max… We’ve been instantly & quietly drilling holes ever since… )

The 5 amp battery will last you almost 2X longer run time then the 3 amp battery you had. Could look at it from that point of view LOL

Mine is an old one like yours too. Lots of haters out there but like you say, I just keep drilling. The key is to keep the original green battery warm the newer black 5ah batteries aren’t as temp sensitive.

I love the Strikemaster posts-“I love mine but it keeps falling apart!” When will they learn?
