Just bought a used truck from Minnesota, I lived in Wisconsin, my insurance agent is out till Tuesday. Is there a legal grace period in Wisconsin? Can I buy insurance for a couple days from a different company? Thanks

No Company 1-800 number to call, or website? I haven’t talked live to my agent in years.

Think of it as you being covered, not the truck.

I don’t know of any company that wouldn’t cover your change of vehicles. I wouldn’t wait too long but yes, you would have coverage until the next business day for sure.

I believe you have 14 days from date of sale. As long as you have current insurance. Just bought a truck 3 weeks ago and that’s what I was told by dealership.

I missed the part where he said he was changing vehicles. I can totally understand the insurance covering a replacement vehicle.

Sounded like he added a vehicle. So you are saying his policy would now cover two vehicles?

    I’m not saying that.

Once you take possession of the new vehicle, that is now the vehicle covered.

That said, I have kept my old vehicle and bought another one.
The agent said it would be covered too. For a reasonable time for me to contact him and officially covered. Not sure every agent or company would though. Probably depends on your history and the agent.

So spoke with 800 number for a hour and half later… gave her my credit card number twice and some more holding.. I was informed she had to email my agent as I’m over my vehicle limit per policy and she was having system problems…I learned I have 30 days from purchasing date to add vehicle. Currently covered under current other vehicle policy. This is with farmers insurance.

I believe you are given a grace period where you are automatically covered.

What I have done in the is called and left a voice-mail with the exact time of purchase and Vin. My insurance will then back cover to that date
