I wouldn’t worry about it and use it like it is since you are new to ice fishing. It’s not a bad shack, I have a Frabill Fortress XL and it’s a decent shack, no issues with it. I would use it and this will give you a better idea what type of shack you would want in the future if you get into ice fishing more.

Uninsulated worked for everyone for 30 years. Insulated IS better, but not like you’re gonna be miserable without it. Most of us spent plenty of nights in below zero weather with wind and were very happy in our uninsulated houses.
Other option is to check with Frabill on a new thermal cover. Maybe there’s a sale on your model.

One thing you can do is cut a square of reflectix insulation to fit between the poles and roof. That stuff insulates super well and when I had an old uninsulated flip over it worked great to keep heat in.

The reflective sheet works very well. Same as those foam sheets. Get a few fiberglass rods to slip in there helps too.

Had both and i would not go with uninsulated again. Defiantly work the little weight.

Refelctix will work great. It can be a hassle to deal with in a hub. We used it in flip overs and just put it between the canvas and the poles. Might be more of a production in a hub, but I am sure it can be done. You might be better off not permanently mounting it and just getting velcro and attaching to the poles once you have the hut set up.

About the most down to earth thing Ive read in a long time. Great attitude about it, run what ya brung and work with what you have.
All too often people buy too expensive trying to keep up with the Jones’ and dont have time to use it because they have to work to make all their payments.
We lived years just fine and happy with non-insulated canvas, caught limits and lived to tell about it.

I used reflectix on an uninsulated clam. Did the top and down the back. Worked great. No real extra weight, folded easy.

I used that stuff in a old otter non insulated lodge. It worked great. Not sure how you’d do it in a hub. But if you get creative it’ll work
