Installing Ulterra bow mount on 1979 Mr Pike

    I’m restoring a 1979 Mr Pike and plan to put a Minn Kota Ulterra 80 with i-Pilot Link on the bow. My question is: Do I need to add extra support to the deck since it is quite thin and doesn’t seem strong enough as is.

    I restored a ’81 Pike, a little different than a Mr. Pike but I replaced the aluminum bow plate with a carpeted wood plate. With carpeted plate, I installed a wood stiffener in about the middle of the plate front to back. and the back edge had an aluminum angle mounted to allow for mounting the bow compartment bulkhead.
    A 200 lb. plus person can walk all over it without a bit of flex. I have a Power Drive V2 mounted on it with an I-pilot Link.

    Nice job on the ‘81 Pike! It looks like a million bucks.
