Hey guys. I have a three bank charger I want to install in my boat. The TM batteries are between the consoles, the starting one is back at the transom. My tentative plan is to install the charger under one of the consoles, and drill holes to run the TM wires into the floor of the boat, then through a hole in the side of the battery compartment. I’m thinking small hole saw and some pliers could work for pulling the wire through. Thoughts? I attached a pic where you can see into the battery compartment, and the wires would come out on the other side of the console, underneath it. Thanks guys!

What year is your Fisherman? My onboard charger was installed under the passenger console. To run the wires to the location to the pictures, no drilling was needed. You can also run the wires to the starting battery without drilling holes via the drivers side gunnel.

2002. How are the wires run? I suppose I could run them up to the bow, then down the same path as the TM wiring, but this seems a little more straightforward.

There are wire runs/tubes under the floor. Look in the battery compartments and see where the wires are coming from and going to. Run a fish tape through the wire run and pull your wires through. You may have to add a length of wire to the lead that goes to the starting battery, I did but I have a 20′ prov. As someone else said, remove the panel that your gear shift/throttle is mounted to, all the wiring from the dash runs through there.

Seeing this post motivated me to re-think adding a battery to my boat. I also have a 2000 Lund Fisherman. I bought it used several years ago. It came with a 12 volt I-pilot. We didn’t use the tm much. As time went on we used it more and more, consequently wore it out. Since we didn’t use it a lot I replaced it with a 12 volt Terrova I-pilot. Since having it, I’ve learned the benefits of using it more. I’ve really never ran out of battery but have heard many comments on the advantages of having either 24 or 36 volt. I have been contemplating upgrading the trolling motor. I wasn’t sure how I would add the battery. I see in TMF89’s picture that he has 2 batteries in the battery compartment. I was wondering what size they are. My boat originally had 27 series. I had to replace my battery last fall. I modified the battery tray and put in a series 29. I also wondered if I could have put a second battery in the rear of the boat alongside the starting battery? Is it necessary for a 24 volt system to have the batteries side by side? Thanks for any input.
