In search of a guide

Good morning fellow hardwater fisherman. I am in search of a guide service for the 18th-20th of December. I currently have a reservation for a sleeper house on LOW for that weekend, however it does not look like old man winter will work his magic in time. A friend and I have been planning on a trip to MN for years now and this year our hectic family and work schedules finally came together for a weekend get away. We are coming from Ohio and typically we fish Erie for walleye, but since I was a kid have wanted to do the sleeper house package. We are coming out to the LOW or URL area regardless if our original sleeper house package doesn’t work out. What we are looking for is simply a guide or fellow icer to possibly provide some transportation out on the ice (more than happy to pay). We have a portable shanty, flashers, gps, ect.. but will not be hauling a machine out for ice transportation. If anyone on here could give me any information on a guide or someone who might be interested in making some additional money to pull two guys out I would greatly appreciate it. As of now it seems traveling on foot could possibly be the only resort to get out. I am perfectly fine with walking if necessary, as I did for years going out on Erie 3-7 miles. Any access points or accommodation recommendations would be a big help. We are willing to rent a cabin or hotel, whatever it takes to get us out there. As I said we are coming out regardless, and would like to have something to go on to try and make this trip as smooth as possible. I thank you folks in advance for any and all info. I hope to see you on the hard water.

I would be calling around to the URL resorts asap! LOW will likely be out of the question, but URL may even have a driveable amount of ice by then. There is walking traffic on URL already, and in 16 days will…should…could have significantly more. If they are all booked there is a Hotel in Shooks about 30 minutes away, Baudette is about an hour or so north, or Bemidji an hour and half south.

Thanks a lot, I will look into this. It figures a cold snap is due to hit just before we are to leave.

Keep the info coming guys, you all are a great help!
