CATFISH ON THE ILLINOIS

We went out Sunday with our kids to the Illinois river out of Morris. Headed downstream to the great beach aerea for some fun on the water with the wakeboard. The fishing boat becomes a pleasure boat in the summer. Anyway I felt like fishing after we ate our hamburgers so I got out my rod and put some hamburger on a hook and just kept catching 1 to 3# channel cats right on shore in about 4′ of water. What fun, and amazed the other people who were picknicking there.
Too bad there weren’t any Saugers there or I might have been forced to cook some fresh fish ( We all hate catfish).

You speak with an evil tongue!

It is nice to fish from shore once in a while. So relaxing when you are on fish! I’m not big on eating channels either..but everyone I talk to says the ones you were catching are the best!

Unfortunately I have given them a try and no one in the family liked them even the dog. Maybe I didn’t cook them right, but I think I would rather eat Walleye
