If we don’t get any more rain, the Sauger bite on the Illinois River is going to get red hot. On Sunday March 10, the river crested in LaSalle. During the past week, it is down 5 foot, and water clarity improving every day. From Spring Valley to the dam 8 to 10 inches of clarity. Surface water temperature is 44 degrees. The tournament on Sunday March 17, took 15 lbs. to win with big fish of the tournament being 4lbs 13.5oz.
Seven of the top ten teams were either trolling crankbaits or pulling floaters. There is a good bite right now at the St. Bede flats and below the Utica bridge. If the weather holds it should be an awesome MWC Tournament. Complete results of the Illinois Walleye Trail can be found at http://www.prairielandeyes.com
