Revisited a 1/4 mile stretch of the East branch today for the first time in a couple years. In the past, this rock strewn area has held a bunch of smallies. Today was no different. After about the 7th fish in little over an hour, I was wondering why I drove all the way to the Kankakee yesterday to get skunked!
On my third cast this skinny 15″ hit a swimjig on an outside bend.
Best fish of the day measured 16″. This scrapper nailed a Rattle trap. Notice the wonderful light chocolate coloring of the water. Visability was about 6″!
The total for almost 3 hours was 15 fish, all smallies, released to be caught another day. The rest of them ranged from 6″-14″, most of them on the shorter end of the scale!
I had my new camera with me, and was experimenting with the buttons on some cooperative wildlife on the way back to the car.
