sled was running fine. put it in the barn. went out a few hours later for another ride. wouldn’t start.
There is no spark from the spark plug.

what is the more likely cause? ignition coil or stator?

Most likely a stator or kill switch issue

    kill switch is fine

was hoping it was not the stator 2000 polaris 500 classic parts are hard to find.

If you have a multi meter it’s a simple test. You can perform a basic continuity test on the stator wires to check for any open circuits, by setting your multimeter to ohms and measuring the resistance between each pair of wires.

ooooo thanks. was just coming to ask if there was a way to test either one. to test the stator with the multi meter, do i need to try and start the machine?
is there a way to test the coil?

the ohm reading is a resistance reading. test the same color wires. you will be looking for open or broken wires

Check the throttle safety switch. These always are a major suspect with no spark situations.
