Here’s a short video that covers a couple refinements to the iFishPro that came out over the summer making a versatile fish-catcher even more user-friendly.

They read my mind. Thanks James.

Have you seen any solutions that would insulate the hole? I’ve messed around a little bit with some foam with no success. That would be my only other suggestion.

FYI. I have found that filling the hole with snow greatly helps keep that hole from freezing up. I’ve had good success doing that too but I just hate having snow in the hole while fighting a fish and setting a line.

That’s what I do as well. As for the snow in the hole… that’s the net man’s job to clear that out before the fish gets to the hole. mrgreen

One thing I’ve NOT tried that I see tip up guys use to accomplish the same thing is small squares of carpet with a slit cut from the mid-point out to the edge for the line to slip in and out of. I have no idea how well that potential solution works but I have seen it out on the ice being used by others more than a few times. Might be worth a try.

A can of spray foam works very well waytogo

I am really digging the new changes, a taller flag will definitely help the I Fish Pro be a bit more visible fishing lakes that have a decent amount of snow cover and the new style slip stops that stay on the line, versus being removable. Here is a photo of the old style slip stops, compared to the new style slip stops.

I’ve been a fan of Clam’s Arctic Warrior but this might be the year I give this a try. My least favorite part of the Warrior is freeze up issues in the hole.

    Great video, James.
For those of us who already have I Fish Pros, where can we buy the new trigger loops?
    Thanks,
    Al

I don’t have pricing info but I’d be surprised if the price goes up significantly.

I glued mine shut after 2 outings, it was like setting up a slip bobber, the height if the Flag was also an easy fix because they have a strong spring that one can easily attach a longer flag to, my biggest hope was that they would’ve beefed up the elbow to the rod holder, I still love em, and you should see the people that want to know what there called

I actually just cut the little hook off the trigger set that goes on the line and put a snap with a barrel swivel on it. Swivel goes on line and the snap goes in the loop and use a bobber stop. Has worked great never lost one yet. I will post picture here if I can did one up.

I am going to really like the new slip stops. Before I made my own by taking a foam bobber and taking wire to make a loop so it would hold tighter and not fall off. I would wrap wire around than epoxy over the wire. This is a huge thing for me even bigger than the flag. I know they are not going to be able to come out with a insulated one anytime soon because the patent by frabil.

The one question I have is is there still a little slit so you can take it on and off easily and quickly?

@davis23 no slit in the new slip stops, that is the only difference between the old slip stops and the new ones. However, you will still be able to utilize the existing slip stop units on the new I Fish Pro’s without issue. So if you have some of the older ones, and you like them- set them aside. I do not think you will be able to purchase the existing style moving forward, but I could be mistaken.

Okay I just wanted to be able to take them on and off easily it would have been nice if they just had a much smaller slit on them rather than having one as open as the old one

Does the new slip stop float? Just wondering if you have to hold it as you are dropping the bait or if it will float so you can just drop the bait until you hit the stop, then set the trigger/flag??

I haven’t had a chance to play with the new trigger mechanism but in the past I have simply done a quick mod to the clip by adding a piece of a foam bobber. With the new clips what might work best is actually just adding a foam bobber between your bait and the clip.

I too am new with the ifish pro. Got a couple last year and never got a chance to use them. sad This year for sure! I think what Will is referring to is using something like the Ice Buster foam bobber.

Not to be confused with his spray foam tip for insulating the hole??
