Now that’s cool! Only thing missing is the hot grease release!

I’ve seen this posted before on various forums. It’s a little wordy , but his setup procedure is essentially the same as you’d find in the manual for every scope that I’ve ever bought.

The only thing the author of this procedure doesn’t explain–and what I’d really like to know–is WHY do you always need to start a side-focused AO adjustment from infinity down to the correct focus? He say you have to, but I don’t see any explanation of why?

And of course the converse, why is a front AO adjustment able to work in either direction?

The erector set on all side focus scopes has some slop in them. Setting from the low side the recoil from the rifle will move the erector set so the focus will be off.

Front focus is threaded so there should be no movement from recoil or slop.

The explanation is in the body of the article how to set up a scope.

    Good post Jeff…
I work at the Green bay Cabelas as a Pro Staffer in the Fishing and Firearm depts. I was amazed how much more expensive it has become to buy a scope with parallax adjustment.
Leupold, for example, one needs to spend $700+ to get that option. I have been very pleased with a new Burris C-4 I purchased for only $450…has parallax, focus, click turret adj, great lenses and they will send you a pre calibrated turret insert if you email them your caliber/ballistics…or, if you are a reloader, send them your chrono speed, caliber, bullet weight and voila!

    Good scope to consider
