I know you guys work really hard to keep the shows up to date, and I don’t mean to diminish that at all. I’m just wondering if you’ve ever considered getting some more shows of fall fishing. Its a beautiful time of year with lots of opportunities. I’m sure you have considered it. I guess just wondering if we’ll see any this season. Was your trip to Leech just for fun or were you filming too?

I agree. Not being an once fisherman the ice shows get a little long in the tooth for me. I really enjoyed how last year they tossed in the big pike show in the middle of the season. I’d love to see one or 2 fall fishing episodes every year even if it meant having to prerecord them in October
October 27, 2015 at 9:29 am #1573529Hi Tim
We’re always kicking around ideas for altering the format. A couple things I’ve been able to discern based on viewership stats, both of our show and general trends, is that the majority of people in our potential audience aren’t very interested in watching fishing shows in the fall until their out of the tree stands and fields with the hunting season behind them. So starting the show season earlier just wouldn’t be justifiable… unless we were doing hunting shows.
As for open water shows that will air late winter when everyone has the open water itch, yeah, we’ll have at least one of those again this season. Maybe more.
October 27, 2015 at 5:33 pm #1573646Thanks for the response James. Btw, I love the show. And I understand that more outdoorsmen spend lots of their fall time hunting so I get that the viewership has other priorities. But that also one of the things I love about fall, a lot less boats! Maybe some short webisodes like you did in the past. Anyway keep up the good work. I was just wondering if we’d see anything from your leech trip. I love that place in the fall.
October 27, 2015 at 6:31 pm #1573652Here’s an idea….do a show with me, Kendall, and Tegg fishing Steelhead on the Brule. It would be very educational. Folks would get to see all of the various and interesting ways I have of throwing flies into the bushes on the other side of the river.

October 27, 2015 at 6:44 pm #1573654Easiest solution and very innovative for t.v. YEAR LONG EPISODES!!! Not just for my pre-football viewing pleasure. My withdrawals might need medical attention soon! I even watched a bass show the other day.
I think even the IDO crew needs to see their families. Just guessing.

Josh BothumPosts: 155October 27, 2015 at 7:46 pm #1573667I like the original suggestion. To be honest, I have watched roughly the last 4 seasons of IDO online over the last handful of months. By far the best fishing show on TV. I live in western ND and am seriously debating a trip to Cascade Lake in ID thanks to the IDO show filmed there last year. I’ve only watched that episode online oh… bout 25 times…
My luck I’d drive the 14 hrs out there and find the only pod of 7″ perch out there…
October 27, 2015 at 8:02 pm #1573671They just need to have episodes year round!!!! Never get sick of watching you guys having fun on the water or on the ice. Keep doing what your doing. BTW would love more trout ice fishing. Also what is a lot of fun and often not practiced is jigging for pike a lot of people have set lines and they don’t jig for them but tie on a airplane jig or big jigging rap and hold on tight.
October 28, 2015 at 9:11 am #1573752IDO is by far the best fishing show. I watch all the shows online. I think many of us watch episodes multiple times. I will often find which shows were aired about the same time last year and try some of the same tactics. There is always time to find a show to watch online. I also like the commercials too so your sponsors get added exposure too!!
Ill have a pad of paper and pen and I will write down what is being used and if I don’t have any Im off to the store or on line to purchase more product.
BobOctober 28, 2015 at 9:18 am #1573753Along those lines James, when will the rest of the past episodes be uploaded to http://www.in-depthoutdoors.com? I do watch the episodes on You Tube but it would be nice to find them consolidated here.
October 28, 2015 at 9:53 am #1573769I hear what James is saying and if the past viewership stats don’t support fall episodes, I get that. But I also agree with the original post that it would be great to have a couple fall open water shows. I don’t hunt much around here (no land access etc.) but love to fish. Granted that’s just one guy’s opinion, but maybe just start small with 2 episodes in the fall…sorta at the ‘start’ of the fall bite, and midway through or something. If viewership of those 2 episodes don’t support it, then….you tried.

I think James said awhile ago that no more old episodes are being uploaded. I could be wrong obviously.

I think they could break format and do just what they did with the pike episode last year. Have an intro from James to set the episode up and the show us a trip from October or November. I fall fish Leech every year and I hope to heck that they were taping and we get to see some of what they do. I’ve fallen into a routine up there. Be nice to see a different approach.
October 28, 2015 at 1:40 pm #1573843One other suggestion to James, as a beginner to Walleye fishing, a little more extended time allocation to rigging and close ups of the set ups would be very helpful. Footage of catching the 15th fish has me as jacked up as the 20th fish, so a few less fish for education sake wouldn’t hurt the show IMO.
