I’d love to see Pool 2 be highlighted. We’ve seen several shows on pool 4 and for good cause, but everybody and their brother fishes Pool 4. Highlighting the lights out walleye fishing on Pool 2 would be awesome. Get out there for prespawn eyes maybe?. It won’t hurt the fishery if more people get out there as it is catch and release only and often times pool 2 is a much closer destination for people than trailering all the way down to Red Wing.

    X2!

Pool 3 and 5 would be cool to see shows on too.

There are tons of fisherman and great fishing spots in the lower peninsula of Michigan. I’m attached to Saginaw bay on Lake Huron myself. Lots of nice walleye and perch.

I’m also interested in a Mississippi or St Croix show. Everyone always talks about how good the fishing is but I’d like to see strategies and tactics while fishing in current and safety tips for ice fishing rivers (if they are ever really safe).

I too would be very interested in a pool 2 show. Or just a river show to show a guy what to look for on any river to start fishing.

Instead of specific lakes, we would all like to you fish our local spots to help us understand them better, get into the whys of why the fish our there? ie. how fish relate to current in streams, rivers, and lakes. Get into understanding electronics and what they are telling you. Get the guys from Lowrance, Garmin, Hummingbird to come on and explain what we are seeing. Maybe feature some of the new stuff out there, like the 3d features that some of these units have available.

    I love this idea:

“During/after each show you sometimes briefly stop and highlight lures/lines/rods/reels used. I think it might be nice to have – with each episode – a one-page PDF/summary a guy could print out for reference”

Im going to reiterate a few comments I’m sure but these seem to be the highlights that come to mind when I think of ways to improve an already great show

    1. Would be going to trophy destinations such as Gogebic, Upper Red, Winnipeg… ext…. and take a couple lucky kids along to show them what its like to catch that trophy of a lifetime and get them “hooked” for life )

    2. I would personally love to see you get the Panfish guys Dave, Joel, Andy… together on some good new water or on each of there “own” home bodys of water and fish there favorite big fish Gills, Crappie, Perch… bite and explain why they love that bite so much and how we can go by getting on it.

    3. Last but not least I would love and I’m sure others would love some mystery no names of locations maybe a state or providence lol but just say we are going here -X- and we are going to do a 1 or 2day show on these ” ” types of fish so you have to find a lake in said new area to try and figure out what lure -X- is needed to put them topside.

there are a million more things I would love to see but there are so many good ideas that I’m sure you guys won’t disappoint.

One small personal request that I have is I would love to see some no name place that has Giant and I’m talking freak Bluegills or Crappie come top side even If no-one can ever fish it I love to see the Giants!

thanks again for all that you guys do

See you on the water! yay yay yay

Here are some of my ideas…
-Fish for fish that aren’t fished for very much (carp or any other rough fish)
-Largemouth bass (especially top water), you guys don’t film largemouth bass fishing that much
-Make an informational video on how to back up a trailer/put a boat in. A lot of people struggle with it.
    -Boat landing etiquette
-Do a run-through of your boats. It might be interesting to see the details on the new skeeter boats from James’ perspective.
-The main video/event I would like to see would be a tournament hosted by IDO, and then have cameras showing the tournament and make it into an episode. Like the FLW Tour, but just one event and make it an episode.
-I know it doesn’t make a great episode sometimes, but I would like to see a show on how to catch fish on heavily pressured bodies of water. Like Lake Minnetonka. It would be very hard but I think most of the viewers would learn a lot from something like that.

    Hard Water:
I’d love a detailed show on tip-ups, the rigging, logic, and strategy. Walleye and pike. Run electronics side by side, camera, flasher, and graph. I always feel like I’m getting about 10% of what my lx7 has to offer. Also when do you “leave fish to find fish”? I spend a lot of days sorting dinks and I’d like to know what makes you guys try other spots. Finally how do you adjust for weather and does the barometer change your strategy?
    Soft Water:
When trolling for eyes, what can you do to get all the rods producing? Always seems like 2 of my 6 rods catch all the fish. Same colors, depths etc…

I would like to see how you go about “scouting” new water. By this I mean what you do before you even get on the water. How do you find that hot walleye lake that you have never fished? Who do you speak with before hand? What do you do in the way of determining how you will fish it and what you will fish with? How do you decide when is the best time of year to go? I ask because I like to find “new water” and it can be a bit daunting sometimes to find useful information before hand.

    Thanks guys.

ALWAYS talk about how you found the location.
Yep you guys are way better than most fishing shows on this -but sometimes you guys have said I’m not sure why they are here and frankily I don’t care”
OK so ask the guide you hired how he found the lake and/or spot because not all of us can afford to hire the top guide in the area to take us out. Love your show, wish you had more episodes.

It may be a little challenging to film, but possibly an open water night walleye show (if your filming season allows it). I fished at night with James on Mille Lacs about 15 years ago and he can put fish in the boat; I could use a refresh on some of his tricks.

It would be nice to see you guys travel further southwest…I know you come to Idaho once in a while…Utah may not technically be in the “ice belt” but we have lakes (Flaming George, Fish Lake, and Strawberry Reservoir) that ice up and hold some real giant trout and other target species!

Regardless, I really enjoy the show and watching all the old episodes available on youtube! I will be rep’ing the brand all winter here in Utah rocking my IDO hoodie while out on the ice!!! Can’t wait to try out my new LX 7 either!!!

I just joined after “discovering” the show on YouTube a week ago, been binge watching every night since. Obviously I haven’t watched every show, but I like what I’ve seen. I agree with an earlier post about a Darkhouse spearing episode. I also like the recipe suggestions. Anywhich way, I do love the show. I’ve only watched ice fishing episodes so far, so can’t comment on the rest of the seasons.

Hello again from Finland it’s that time of the year
    HARD ICE!!!
Would love to see how you break in a new lure,
Meaning,. . . how to dismiss a lure quickly so it doesn’t ruin the prime time bite.

Or time spent. . .there’s a saying here. No more than 8 seconds per hole if no bite, don’t bother calling them in, hunt for them.

Also do a old school no flashers just an auger backpack and hunt for them bandits
Also old school method hand crank jigging sticks not rod and reel combos

Another concept show idea is to fish for big, feisty Wipers in Nebraska/Iowa. Not that far away for a premium fish not many around here know much about..

How about tiger muskies through the ice with a mix of splake or early season tigers in the boat on a lake to yourself?

    #1648379

I can only speak for myself, I struggle with reading a map during the hard water season. I’d love to see you guys have a few 5 minute segments on how/what the countours of a lake mean during the ice season.

    Good Morning –

For a show idea for the big crappie lover in you, perhaps give the WIllow Flowage a try in Oneida County, Wisconsin. With that in mind, do you fish a flowage different than a lake?? What sort of things are you looking for to establish a good crappie location/bite? I’ve mainly stuck to deep water basins, but I’m always open to some new tactic.
