I like to bring this topic up just for the fun of it and to see what other guys would think is cool.
Episodeds I think would be sweet:
-Boundary Waters dog sled trip into lakes you cannot get to by snowmobile. (www.Basswood-bob.com)
-Enter a tournament. With many ice fishing tournaments that happen all over, enter one and see how you do!
-IDO team competition. Maybe team James vs team Joel. Go to the same lake, talk strategy, split up, then the team with the most accumulated length wins. Add up all the inches throughout the day. This could be an ongoing episode each year and a trophy.
-Obviously budget might not allow but it would be fun to go to a tropical vacation and deep sea fish.

Neat ideas that I haven’t seen in past years. Small tweak to the second one. Instead of measuring up the inches, have a recap of who had the better day, what adjustments did they make, and any other things that mere mortals like us might leech off of.

I think a variation of this could be fun. Set it up like Major League Fishing – with each team having a Joel, James, or other “celebrity” like Mark Fischer or Roger from Joe’s Sporting goods, John from Thorne’s, etc… or something like that. Entry fee to get in, a couple prizes, and majority of proceeds go to a charity.

You know that might be really cool …

Hit up a tournament. Clear Lake Iowa has the yellow bass bonanza. Very fast paced when you get into them!

I fish turnys here as well but these old timers make one hole and win. . .with no bait or any kimd of scent just different colors of hooks on a spoon slender as a #2 pencil.

This probably won’t get much love during the ice season, but I think trout fishing creeks in the southeast part of the state would be a neat change of pace. Could do it sometime early April after most of the safe ice is gone, but before most are out in boats.
