Are you thinking an official gtg?

    Or an official unofficial gtg?

Official, but unofficial works. (As long as we get a keg for Nick.)
I have to reschedule my LOTW trip next week so thinking I might as well put some names to faces.

Ok, I was thinking of proposing something such as this myself. You got ahead of me…but good!
Another forum I followed would assemble gathering’s such like this and it was always worth attending!

Are you thinking an official gtg?

    Or an official unofficial gtg?

Either way, worth exploring? Official, I would expect some blessings from the Keymasters and/or moderators. Depending on how it develops, could even have sponsor participation like TUCR, Ice Force, Otter, Marcum, etc., offering sample testing opportunities as well as marketing and perhaps discounts? yay
Or we could keep it unofficial and just keg it…Summit would be my first choice!

In the past James wanted to do official GTG, but insurance made it undoable.

The one last year, was that put on by Ido or the resort?

Unofficial keeps it less rigid, invite the moderators for a camera-less occasion. Not so much fun when political/moderator correctness rears it’s head.

    Agreed.

If you build it, they will come.

At this point let’s get a date, everything else sorts itself out after. Seems best if everyone could drive out with their vehicle.

    February 4.

Upon further thinking, weekends are always so busy for everybody, and being its pretty far in advance here why not a Friday? Good reason for a 3 day weekend!

I can travel wherever. Gonna be tough those in northern MN and those southern Wisconsin. Middle ground would be where?

Goes against the middle ground premise but Leech would be fun with lots of lodging opportunities.
    Walleyes and jumbo perch.

The first thing needed is a set date.
I talked with John (TUCR) at the ice show regarding a gtg, he had some good ideas.

There have been quite a few official- unofficial GTG’s over the years here,Praire-Du-Chien,Castle Rock,St. Croix,Lake Winnebago ….The last one was on Green Bay 2 years ago…
All that is needed is 2 or so people willing to do some work-time to set everything up…Me and Randy did one on Lake Onalaska some time back and it went very well….Except the catching part doah
The only problem with a resort themed GTG for a lot of people is the money factor….
If it’s close enough I sure as heck will be there…..It would be #8 for me…

I’d be willing to, along with someone else, organize it.

Another nice thing about these get together is all the different brands and models of equipment you get to see in action.

A couple of hints to anyone interested in getting it going….
1)Set up a date and time, not to early, not to late, fairly quick…Central enough so more people can come but still potentially on a good bite(in past GTGs…not necessary whistling ).
2)Look around for lodging and such for the outta towners….
Everything else, food, after fishing, etc gets worked out fairly quick by attendees….

I would be willing to help organize too, since I had thought a while back about suggesting it.
Now that we have the beer and food decided, we still need to set and finalize a date. I’m liking early February, around the 4th or following weekend. Nick also suggested a Friday which I wouldn’t be apposed.
I’ve never ice fished the St. Croix but a good friend has and says it can be very good. Just throwing that out because of the central location.
    So…??

I vote for a Pool 6 or Pool 5. Plenty of backwaters and I’m sure someone can turn us onto a few spots whistling Plus the bite always sucks during a IDO GTG jester

Walker or Wabasha between January 23rd and February 10th, 2017. Would think Trappers and other resorts in Walker area would be happy to have some extra business. Wabasha and Lake City area would give access to many spots on Lake Pepin and backwaters.

Willing to lend a hand to whoever is the organizer. Is is possible to get IDO unofficial ok to say it is an IDO member GTG when trying to get hotels/resorts to block rooms, give discount?

    Pick a date.

Never been a problem in the past!.It’s been done for almost all the GTG’s…
Just have to have someone contact the local hotel to see if they will do a deal…most place are more than willing that time of year…

Could make a sweet hub city on the water as well. My cot fits perfect in mine with room for 2 rattle reels.

Thoughts on Mille Lacs? Close enough to the cities, setting up for one of the best bites this winter, and I’m sure getting a resort on board would be no problem. Just a thought, I’m down for wherever, and I’d vote late January or first weekend in Feb.
