I think I am going to ask my boss if it would be okay if I take a half day and head to the pond as well.

    Hey Andy,
Bob Carlson is no longer at red door. Two weeks ago he took a job at menards. Nonetheless they always are cautious. The door has been my home away from home for eight years now. Looking forward to the get together.

Sunset on the pond tonight. The fish have been quiet for the first hour of fishing.

Bob left…for Menards?? Gotta wonder about that! Hopefully he was working some guys through apprenticeships, that could now be turned loose as journeyman. ‘Cause Kulifaj’s most likely are clueless?? As far as an ice fishing operation on Mille Lacs.

I’ve seen you post occasionally and wondered if you were the guy that PM’d me in another forum world. He went out of Phil’s Myr Mar, so “marmike” wasn’t such a stretch. Guess you’re not the same guy.

If this all plays out according to plan, I’ll look forward to meeting you next weekend.

Also thinking about time for a “roll call”. If no one else does, I will PM potential “suspects” on meeting places and times. I will be there late Friday morning.
Good luck to you guys out there this weekend. If it’s slippery, stay inside the fish house and hang on to your beer!

I was out this afternoon on resort flat. 1 24″, 1 14″ right at sundown. Still alot of snow on the lake, ice is in great shape, bridge area was in good shape.
They are starting to pull permanent houses tomorrow.

    Roll Call –
    Eel Pout Guy, Marcum LX6

I’ll be there Friday morning 9am. House #10

You guys see the forecast for next friday and the weekend? Wind, snow and dropping temps Friday. Back to winter. Sounds better than slop and mud.

I’m packing sunscreen and flip flops and long under wear and insulated boots. That way I’m covered no matter what.

Anyone that’s been fishing lately care to share what a guy should be bringing for live bait? Shiners, fat heads, etc?

The fish haven’t been very cooperative today, but maybe it will pick up when it gets dark.

I’ll have 3 limits of fresh LOW walleye to cook up. Probably some beer and brown to sample with it. I’ll need to figure out the proper gifting protocol, but the fish are all are caught and cleaned. My son and nephew had a blast.

I have aqired both. The 9 came with my wheel house. I prefer the 28 though. Caught 8-10 smaller ones at dark, chased some pike today since it was so nice to sit on tailgate and watch flags. Caught a few. Youngest caught a dandy with a little bit of help.

Drifter, glad you stayed vertical this time! wink
For sure good times you’re having out there…love the family pics with the “little drifters” and your FW! It’s not always about the fish…but it’s sure more memorable when you get ’em!

Well ya, for sure…make sure to provide for grandma or grandpa for any family needs but if ya got any surplus we can make good use of those. If not catching, might as well be eating! Weather for Friday sounds like it might be interesting.
Instead of a fishing or auger or flasher competition, we might be competing on favorite walleye cooking recipes!

So we can at least look forward to those! Ok, we can only hope…however maybe some discouraging reports coming in this afternoon. Sounds like most resorts have or will be pulling their offshore bridges for the season. Furthermore, some have already closed their accesses and roads (Lybacks, Castaways, and perhaps a few others). Just for now, with hopes of reopening for next weekend.
I still hold out hope however, putzed around in the garage today and figured I’d load up for next weekend, ya know just in case?
Kinda chuckled when I was loading it up in a t-shirt and a little sweat.
Loaded up, then realized I don’t have room for my beer? Might have to pull the Fishtrap out!

It sounded like my mom did pretty good tues-wed of last week.

Boy, anything south of Hinkley looked super swampy on the drive home yeaterday. I’m getting worried, I’ve got too many people to ride on a single sled.. jester

I was planning a truck with 18′ flat aluminum single axle trailer for gear.

How’s the bite been on the first break? toast

And it’s raining now. Not looking good for this weekend, but it’s still possible. I just spoke to Red Door and they have room for wheel houses on shore, and 4 wheelers/ATV’s are possible on the access this weekend. IF they allow them, would people still be interested in going?

I just did a one week timelaps of the web cam and its shocking to see how quickly things have hanged.

I’m still in if large UTV access is still possible and ice conditions in general are safe. I’m bringing my FIL and while I’m more adventurous, he’s a little concerned about ice conditions after the recent warmup.

I’m still packing up but being realistic about this.

I just hope LOTW holds up as I have my annual trip planned up there the weekend of the 11th.

If trucks will not be allowed out, as it’s looking that way, it will be a tossup for me. My ATV is currently in pieces in my garage being worked on, unsure if it will be completed by then…I will try my best but Amazon delayed a critical package to get it up and running…

Will still be up there. The Perch Extravaganza will still be a blast. Probably just walk out to the break line and fish there. Or do some serious trolling over on formica flats! toast
