If I’m in town I could jump over. The 4 minute drive to the Osceola landing is pretty manageable.

I have this penciled in. Should be a good reason to camp on the croix for the weekend.

Two months is going to fly by! Don’t forget to save the date:

    Saturday, April 24th
    Osceola Landing, Shafer, MN 55074

I’ll bring my apple pie drinks and various baked goods. 😋 I’m thinking potluck style – everyone can bring a little something to share. What time would folks like to gather? Noonish?

Hey Beast, in the past when I’ve coordinated these unofficial gatherings they’ve been at restaurants or bars, so this will be the first outdoors/park gathering. So I’m thinking we can all bring something to share, either food or drink, and maybe someone can bring some paper towels and garbage bags? Very casual of course, so no worries if you’re not able to bring something fancy or anything. I’m thinking this might just be a bigger turnout than my previous coordinated gatherings, so I’m really looking forward to this! mrgreen toast

Usually happens naturally after a day of wild game, spicy cheeses and Busch lattes

According to Google it’s designated as Shafer, but Osceola is right there on the border so I think you could say either.

Osceola landing park is fairly large. I believe it has atleast 2 covered picnic shelters and other picnic areas. We might want to pick an area to meet. My vote is for the shelter on the south side of the park. This would allow for 2 nearby sand beaches for parking boats. I do believe these shelters can be reserved but not sure about this early in the year.

Anyone have any contact info for the park?

No contact info, but yes the south shelter is the better of the 2 and lots of fishing options right from shore.

I looked up the shelter info. You are able to reserve them after April 1. They do have a 25 person limit because of “covid”.

Rum River in Cambridge has a nice park w/facilities. The river can offer some great fishing – both shore and canoe. We do float trips from one of the smaller access areas upstream with great success.

What kind of fish can you catch from shore up there? What is open In April?
