Was a relatively short “season”, only a couple of hours into opening day when he made the decision to stand up earlier than expected. Spotted the group of deer he was staying with 3 days prior to season and just kept watching what they did every day. Of course when he stood up the group worked in the opposite direction they had the previous days, but put themselves in a position for me to get to 51 yards and seal the deal. I will add the footage from the hunt when I get it all wrapped up!

Nice bucks so far. Sorry jason and gun, I seem to be the slacker in our team. Got close last Sunday but couldn’t get him in place to get a shot (twice).

Doe for team #4. Not having much time this year to hunt MN I figured I would take the first adult deer that presented a shot. As you can see from the pic, no tracking was needed.

Reception is spotty at the in-laws so will have to wait to try uploading pic but a pretty MN 8 point fell victim to the CVA for team 3 this afternoon.

Wet ground made for silent deer movement at my father in laws for the Saturday MN opener. Saw him coming in about 4pm but he cut across the creek and started going away like he would skirt past out of range. Got his attention with some buck grunts, then switched to a few doe grunts and followed up with a few more excited buck grunts. He turned back around and was following the creek bed looking for what he heard. I use my CVA Accura on MN and got my opening at 35 yards. Didnt really act hit at first but after a short trot up to the first bench above the creek he started looking wobbly and then slipped back the bench were I couldn’t see. He dropped right back there where I couldn’t see him, center punched both lungs, only went maybe 40 yards. Was awesome to have the calling work just like it’s supposed to and in its third year of use the CVA is 3/3 between MN and WI.

With a new child in October my hunting has been limited but my wife gave me a weekend pass to try to fill my West river tag and I was successful. It was a great trip over 1000 miles in less than 48 hours and a nice buck and many memories!

An 8pt buck and a doe from Kodiak Island, AK for team #4. Longest tine on buck is 4 1/2″ and scored a little over 77″. Didn’t take long for my brother and I to realize we were not going to be climbing the hills of Kodiak everyday looking for deer and decided to hunt the flatter stuff. Also made it nice when you only had to worry about a bear coming at you from 180 degrees instead of 360. All I can say is WOW about the trip. Anybody looking for an adventure should definitely look into heading to Kodiak.

Its been a LONG deer season.. many disappointments, and things were looking pretty bleak as I woke up on the very last day of rifle season. This nice buck came by 15 minutes after legal time and I had him cleaned and loaded up by 8am.
Still have yet to fill an archery tag.. So I have a little bit of hunting time left.. but the end is near.

Ok boys and girls. I apologize for the crazy delay in getting the results out. I totally forgot about the contest for a while. I appreciate all who entered. I will get the payments out soon. If you are a winner please message me your address. I believe I saved all of the envelopes from the entries but might be missing a few who paid online at Fleet. I look forward to next years contest. We had one contestant that was removed from the site but I have a pic in my email that I will try to post.
