I feel bad that I can’t make it after all the smack talking I did on the thread that lead to this cook off. It makes me feel a little better knowing that I donated the winning prize to someone else though.

Awesome! Thanks, yes, so far here’s the list:
~ I will make cornbread to share and will plan to bring garbage bags.
~ Steve Root and wife Mona will bring bowls and spoons.
~ Rodwork will plan to bring power strips and electrical cords.

So maybe a few people can bring some assorted fixings – shredded cheese, Fritos, sour cream, table onions? And some paper towels? Anything else we might need?

It looks like I’m in.
I’m thinking I will submit both my white chicken chili, and my award winner.

FYI – I found this and it will officially be awarded at the contest.
For what I am not at liberty to say.
But I’m thinking

I will attend to be a sampler. I make a mean Chilli but I wing it every time. Don’t think I could make the same batch twice

I will be dialing in my Chili recipes at at the cabin this weekend, making any needed tweaks to bring home the GOLD on the 25th!!!

I’ll be at Leech Lake the week of 9/11-9/18 in case a master level event needs to take place.

Thats the secret. Freeze it and reheat it on Chilli day. 🌶

Practicing this weekend.
Chicken chili is dialed in the only tweak is to back off on the heat, going from 1 tsp on cayenne to 1/2 tsp.
Smoked chicken thighs, braised in chicken stock until they fell apart, then built the chili on top of that.

The gold medal chili is quite a bit of prep. 2 hours of slicing, dicing, measuring.
Just tasted it and the heat is perfect with the different layers.
I forgot to get a bottle of IPA and ended up using an old bottle of Sam Adams Octoberfest. That will need to change for the competition.

I have friends coming up this weekend to critique and will be taking a couple bowls up to the cook at the Channel to see what he says.
