idiots

I just checked the website I use for the Two Harbors area and of course Duluth has some cameras as well and there are maybe ten fools on surf boards out on the meager chop. Beach side of the Wisconsin light of the Park Point entry. A week ago I watched five paddle boarders run out the entry onto the main lake along with the ice.

I have a hard time imagining what the allure is. The waves are hardly large enough to get up on let alone stay up on. Seems like a waste of time.

So, because you don’t understand their hobby they are idiots? As has been said before on this site…you need to watch your own bobber.

You’re right of course. I shut the site off so I’m not watching them look like bobbers.

Alot of people don’t understand the allure of fishing for a fish the size of their palm either.

Me, I don’t care who does what as long as people don’t have to risk their lives to save them from their own stupidity.

At least they aren’t inside playing video games. I’m not a surfer but I’ve done tons of stuff people would think is dumb and dangerous.

My guess is that they thought with the storm passing over there would be some nice waves and more then likely drove a distance to get to Duluth. Got to play the hand your dealt.

Thanks for posting. I really enjoyed watching them for a while on a rainy, snowy MN day when I’m stuck inside. While I’m not personally a fan of cold water immersion, they looked to be having fun.

I saw someone swimming in Lake Nokomis today. I know the cold water immersion is supposed to be very good for you but that looked miserable.

There are a lot worse things people could be doing. I wouldn’t call them idiots at all.

Cold plunges are amazing. You feel incredible afterwards. I’m actually looking at a tank so I can do them at home.

    Sorry, back to the thread…..

I had an infected molar once. It felt good after it was pulled. Seems like similar logic to me.

I argue with my Dad and my wife on this topic. Because you see someone doing something you’d never do, perhaps cause it’s risky, you decide they are idiots. If one of these surfer dudes had a young child with them in the water, and risking the life of someone who didn’t know better, then I’d probably agree. But otherwise they’re just crazy people doing something you wouldn’t do. And most all of us have been in that category atleast a few times in life. If you haven’t, maybe you should get out there and do something crazy once. toast

Those people are crazy just like many of us hunters and fisherman. I think they’re nuts and don’t get the allure but I also know I’m nuts when it comes to my hobbies and have been told so many times.

I saw a boat out bobbing around this weekend in the east wind. I figured it was b-man at first but upon a closer look, I think the boat was smaller than his. It looked pretty miserable, yet a small part of me was jealous. I was working this weekend. If I wasn’t so damn busy at work there is a good chance I woulda said fugg it and sent it too.

Are they and us idiots? Maybe, everything is perspective I guess.

well said. a lot of people don’t understand why someone would want to sit freezing their butt off all day in a deer stand, or ice fishing, or fishing in a boat… or walking 10 miles a day to shoot 3 pheasants.

just because its not your thing doesn’t mean you need to sh*t on it
