Idiot move

Was out fishing this afternoon and it is super windy. Took the hub house out of the bag and stuffed it in the track of the ranger so it wouldn’t blow away. Started setting the house up and it started blowing off so I hopped in the ranger and took off chasing it completely forgetting I stuffed the bag in the track. Spent an hour cutting it out piece by piece it was so tangled up in there. I think it’s about time to call it a season.

We’ve all been there. Sometimes it’s better to take your medicine and just head home.

Oh man we’ve all done similar dumb moves. My otter canvas was so wrapped around the axle of my Honda one time I had to cut it as well. Tried reversing my way out of it and pretend it didn’t happen, but that was a worse idea.

Figured this would happen. I think that’s a wrap for the 24/25 ice season

We’ve all been there. That looks hard to put back together and may be expensive.

Spent an hour cutting it out piece by piece it was so tangled up in there.

Before that last 10 inch dumping of snow, I had the garden hose out for daily use washing off the muddy dog feet. Well, some of that hose was left laying over the sidewalk when it snowed. Got sucked into the two stage snow thrower. Yep, about an hour cutting that hose out. The entire time thinking…. “I’m going to the hospital today” smash

Ouch fins! I once sucked an extension cord into my snowblower. That was a lot of fun! You arent the only one. THankfully I have no pictures to prove I did it LOL

One part stupid and one part odd – Late last fall I made a half attempt in selling my boat. I pulled my 2 lithium batteries out for the Minn Kota trolling motor and put back in 2 lead acid batteries for this potential sale. I did not sell it and decided to keep it so yesterday I was going to put back in the 2 lithium batteries. 2 of a 12 volt battery hooked in series for 24 volts.

Not many cables in the compartment but I used zip ties to manage the cables and swapped 1 battery at a time. After connecting both batteries I changed the Minn Kota PCL charger (3 bank) charging profile over to lithium for these 2 banks. Several seconds later I have a solid red light on each of the banks for the lithium but the 3rd bank to the starter battery is running just fine, WTF. The charger was just working fine about a week ago when I plugged it in with the 3 lead acid batteries.

I checked all of the connections which looked good and pulled the fuses which were all good. My lithium have wifi connection so I open the app on my phone and the batteries look just fine, WTF. In case it was just the charger I plugged the trolling motor in and grabbed the remote and it states motor not found, WTF. I pulled one lithium battery back out with the assumption of putting back in the lead acid. Before trying to swap back with the lead acid I disconnected the cables except the charger on the remaining lithium. Now that charger bank is working fine, WTF.

The stupid part is now I remember that I did not turn the power on at the trolling motor earlier…. I connected the 2nd lithium battery up and both banks on the charger are working fine and the trolling motor is working fine.

Now for the odd – The first attempt of connecting the lithium batteries I connected the cables to the trolling motor closest to the battery and stacked the charger cables on top of these which I got the solid red light. The 2nd time connecting the cables I connected the cables from the charger closest to the battery and stacked the cables to the trolling motor on top. I found this to be rather odd but I did not spend the time to swap the cables back to see if I could duplicate the solid red light error code and I was just happy all is working again.

The water on the river was pretty low last summer. I was launching by myself and decided to undo the front strap and just bump it off. I never do that but figured I would do it this time. Well, I bumped too hard and the boat launched into the river and started floating downstream. I had to go for a swim. Made it into to the boat to realize I didn’t have the keys. Had to fire up the trolling motor to get back to the dock.

The shore fishermen at 494 thought this whole display was a riot. Good thing it was warm…I fished in soaking wet clothes all day.

I put a log chain through a front mount blower on a JD 4052 5 or 6 years ago.

The local baseball coach and AD asked if I could carefully get snow off the high school baseball field as it was 3 weeks into the season and we got 10” of snow on top of the foot that was still there and the frost was still a few feet deep. I adjusted everything and was unbelievably careful so that even with a good size tractor I wasn’t leave so much as a rut or touching a blade of grass. About 2/3 of the way through I hit a 25’ heavy duty logging chain. I’ve never seen that many sparks fly before and gearboxes burn up so fast. To this day nobody knows what the hell a logging chain was doing in the outfield of a very neatly kept varsity baseball field.
