Ideas for a small container to hold ice fishing jigs?

    Guys,

A lot of times when I’m out, I’ll travel light and just carry a dozen or so jigs/spoons with me. I have been using a small (maybe 3 by 5 inch plastic container that was 2-sided and transparent so you could see through. Easily fits in front pocket of my Strikemaster bibs. I really like it but it’s not quite wide enough to easily close down the lids on spoons etc. that have treble hooks. I’ve looked at Fleet Farm, Scheels and Gander and not really found something that I’d like – either not transparent, too big, or too cheapie. The small Plano boxes are usually only one sided – and not real durable in the cold.

Any suggestions on containers you’ve come across that you like?

Piece of sheep skin with wool glued to the bottom of a small plano box.
Mosh painting departments of Fleet Farm will carry sheep wool pads.

These are the best I have ever seen. Double sided. They measure 4×3. Got them at Mills Oakdale a couple years ago. Bought some for me and a buddy I was so impressed.

Suzuki that’s what I use now.

I like it but not quite deep enough to close on the largest lures with treble hooks.

Fly boxes work really well. You can buy them pretty small and are fairly cheap.

As stated above old chew tin, if you want something to snag your hooks on cut a piece of foam to put inside and glue it down.

Round up some prescription bottles and cut some foam tube caulking, used to tuck into driveway cracks before sealing with sealant, to fit inside the bottles. 3/4″ is about right as is 5/8″. Simply stick your small jigs into the foam tube and store the jigs/foam in the bottle.

    Here’s an option

    Vitacarry – 8 compartments

8 compartments with a gasket to keep everything dry.

    Nice idea!

I think a $5 eurolarvae puck would be perfect if one is looking to narrow it down to the essenrisls.

I personally use a Cabelas large fly box.
