Here’s some footage from this past weekend from out on Devils Lake. No fancy editing here. We just pointed the video camera at the screen and let it run.

I’ve never seen this many big perch in one place at one time in my life. Didn’t make them easy to catch by any means as they had more food than they knew what to do with. We did manage 8 perch right around the 2# range and countless 11 – 13 inch fish plus some big crappies and more small pike than WE knew what to do with.

Great video, have you ever tried Wigglers (Mayfly Larvae) out there for the Perch? How far were you able to see with the camera? It’s kind of hard to tell from the video, also how was the water clarity? Been thinking about one of the Marcum cameras.

I’ve never tried wigglers but we would have tried anything short of TNT given how tough these fish were to catch. Where can you buy them?

We were able to see about 10′ – 12′ off into the distance with the 625.

Mostly just shrimp and lots of them.

I know some of the locals told us that the pike were loaded up with small walleyes and tiny nickle sized crappies but we didn’t spot any baitfish in the perch.

It is fun to see of the the perch and than the water wolf pack show up. Then the perch are gone and then slowly start to come back into the screen. Very fun to watch thanks.

Great video. At about 3:00 minutes I saw a perch swim close to the camera and you could see a blood sucker hanging on its tail. Really good clarity. Thanks for sharing.

My favorite part is at 1:16. The minnow came off the hook on the previous hookset and ends up free swimming amidst a school of hungry perch. Instincts kick in and that minnow takes off for the surface with a jumbo hot on its tail.

    Awesome video

I agree a wiggler on a spoon with a dropper chain may have really lit em up

I know when I lived in Green Bay wigglers were easy to get over there but not so much over here

Wigglers (Mayfly Larvae) can be hard to find. Eastern WI and MN usually have them. Several years ago some tree huggers convinced a WI Senator and Judge that the river bottoms should not be upset from the harvest of the Mayflys. A ban and limited harvest was place on WI rivers so now they are hard to find. I think most of them come from Upper Michigan now and the cost has went way up.

You can buy them preserved online but again not cheap. These prices are actually cheap but not sure if they would ship them. http://www.thereelthingbait.com/wigglers.htm

I sent them an email to see if they shipped them or not. At that price I would order some, the problem is they are had to keep for any length of time.

Preserved ones, now these are not cheap.
