Mother Nature has certainly tested the inner desire of many ice anglers this season throughout the midwest. Starting with heavy snow and poor ice followed by bitter cold and heavy slush here in borderland. Then More heavy snow and bitter cold temps to end the mighty month of February. Fisherman are having to put a bite together only hoping to trump the hand the angry oz of weather has dealt them. We had a big slab bite going prior to the last cold snap. Here’s a Ri-Donk-ulous 15 inch crappie caught in the midst of a snowstorm 2 days ago on a custom jigs and spins #8 Diamond jig. If we only would have knew the “Snowstorm” was the best weather day we’d encounter for the next several days!! We are sitting at 14 below and falling rapidly as I henpeck this update.
I remind myself and everyone else MARCH my friends…….. is just around the corner. Our recent dip in temperatures likely has extended our ice fishing season as we are again…… MAKING ICE!!So don’t “Tap Out” now ladies and gents!! We’ll be Movin-N-Groovin for crappies nearly everyday now. Looking for the elusive 17 inch SUPER DONK to put a bend in our rod and smile on our face!! If and WHEN I land that big “SUPER DONK” I have vowed to do a lap around the nearest island!! NOT WITH THE SLED!!
