I’d look for shallow weeds and hang a big sucker minnow just a foot or two under the ice

If there are any creeks or rivers that run into the lake, that is where I would set up. Go as close as you possibly can to the open water (realize that not many people recommend this….) and put your tip ups in a line running from the mouth out to deeper water. If it is located on a flat, even better! 6″ shiner or sucker under a tip up. Right under the ice up super shallow. About 3 feet off the bottom in deeper water. Then watch the flags fly!

    Good luck!

Mid winter the biggest pike relate to deep water rocks….in another month or so I would start looking at the outside weed edges and a few weeks after that right in the weeds. This is all relative to the lake you are fishing though.

dont get discouraged if a shiner dies on you either, just drop em to the bottom if theyre fresh. my two biggest pike this winter hit big dead shiners on the bottom, both 30+.

I’ve caught my biggest pike on very steep drop offs. That’s probably the area I would target.
