Does anyone have a Ice Troller? I am looking at getting one of these units w/ the soft pack that is sold seperate, but kinda worried about purchasing the unit. My buddy got one of the first Showdowns when they first came out and he had nothing but problems. I don’t really care about the full ShowDown unit I am only considering the Ice troller unit. Has any of you that own them had any problems with your unit? I’m not looking for a top of the line unit I already own a LX-5 I am just looking at this to hole hop a little easier and something that the wifey can comprehend on how to read without a class of teachings. Any info would be great and Thanks.

There was a post awhile back about the showdown.

    Here it is:

Maybe shoot “bee” an instant message for some more detailed information.

    Good Luck!

Bret Clark has one too. He should be sticking his nose in here shortly.

I have the exact set up your talking about. I had an LX-5 for my main flasher and purchased an Ice Troller for hole hopping and a second flasher for a tag along. I have sort of mixed feelings on the Troller. Its a nice little unit for the price, but it sure isn’t an LX-5.

It is handy for following behind a buddy drilling holes checking for depth and finding fish. For actually fishing I find the black lines hard to read it does the job, but I prefer color. I have used it alot over my dead stick when walleye fishing and really like it in that situation.

If I had something like “bee” has to connect it to my leg or ATV it would make whole hopping easier. But there isn’t much advantage to the troller if you have to carry the performance pack around too.

If I was going to do it again I would purchase an LX-1, but the troller does get the job done and maybe your fishing style will suit that better.

Thanks Doonan, That’s exactly what I’d be using it for. The hole hopping without the pack and in the pack over my dead stick. Have you had or noticed any problems with this unit or heard of any problems? Thanks for the feedback.

    Click for my first review

The unit I have has preformed without a hitch. I have had a lot of friends and people use it and like it. It is my tag a long unit with the performance pack. Easy to use, very portable, and so far durable

Doonan hit the nail on the head with his find using the ice troller. Its hard to beat color

I haven’t had any problems with mine. Have used it in all weather conditions and worked just fine. Have bounced it around in my sled while being pulled at 40 miles per hour and survived without a hitch.

I have used mine a lot. It is what i use most and it has been very good. With the base mount it is a nice unit.

Thank you all for the responds and I am going to try to find a unit. Anyone know of any stores that have them in stock at this time?

I’ve enjoyed mine so much I bought the lil’ lady her own… That and my LX-5 work nicely together.

I found one at Korky’s on-line store plus they had some left over pro packs as well.

Well, I did it. My buddy and I went on a 200 mile round trip for a day of manly shoppin. We went to Cabela’s where I bought the Ice Troller on sale for $169.99 but they didn’t have any accessory soft packs. After a bite to eat we continued our journey to St. Cloud and stopped at Gander Mt. and no luck on anything there. I must say I am getting really disappointed with that store, they don’t have anything for selection really unless it’s lures. Went to Farm and Fleet and no luck. So, my buddy wanted to go to Scheels as I am not a big fan of, and their units are still at $199.99 but they did have 1 accessory soft pack that I wanted and not to mention a 12v/8ah battery for $19.99. So, all in all it was a very good day of shopping, alot of miles and alot of different stores, but we found everything and then some for what we were looking to get and at even better prices than expected in some cases. Good thing considering the gas cost, . Thank’s to all of you that helped me on my consideration and I will try out the new unit when I get the chance. Then I can help other’s on this subject as you all have helped me.
