So the past few weeks has found me here at school over in UW-Stevens Point, and in my free time, I have found a few lakes with some MONSTER, and I mean MONSTER perch. The trouble I am having is that these lakes are super clear and deep. And after fishing multiple times, I am yet to hit a good bite. Anyone have any suggestions to get negatively mooded perch to bite?

Also found a lake with a LOT of big largemouths. Any suggestions for jigging for them?

    Thanks for any info

try a hali. I’m no expert but usually pull one out when things get tuff. the small hook on the dropper with a small spike or waxie may do the trick

I usually get perch to come in and check things out by using a Hali too I bang it on the bottom a few times and wait to see who shows up. When they do show up they usually want it held still. At times they will come in and sit in front of the bait for 5 to 10 seconds before they make a decision. Any movement in that time normally seems to scare them off. I like to use my camera for perch because I know when they come in and are sizing up the offering. The camera lets me know when it’s time to set the hook.

Have you tried big minnows on tip ups like you would for walleye? Also have you been out there right at dawn? I know in some places the big ones bite for the first hour or so of light and then shut down the rest of the day.
