Going to pick up a solo laser pro tonight……….. Question though, they have a demo 3hp for a little less than the new in box 2.5hp any suggestions on which one I’d be better off with?

I have the 2.5hp and I love it. 18-24″ of ice is nothing for that auger.

Best of luck with your purchase, whichever one you choose.

2.5 has plenty of power, I think the 3 hp generally comes with a 10″ blade. 10″ to me is overkill and not needed.

I would go with the 2.5 hp model. I have the 3hp lazer pro and my buddy has the 2.5 lazer mag. It takes him about 2 seconds longer to drill a hole through 24 inches and both are 8 in augers.

Boy, I don’t know! 2 seconds X a dozen holes equals a long time before your line hits the water.

I’d get the 3hp. I have the 2.5 and I tried a 3hp on Sunday, its noticeably faster. Where are you finding 3hp demos?

What is the weight difference between the two models? If you do much walking that might be somethign to consider.
