Me and my friend are planning to go out saturday afteroon, pitch us a tent on the ice, put up the ice house and start fishing crappies and gills untill we can’t fish no more, get a couple hours of shut eye and start again bright and early on Sunday. Since we are going to be fishing at night, Is there any kind of lures/jigs that work better when it’s going to be dark out? We will be fishing on Pool 8. Any advice would help.

Anything that glows. The little led flashlights last forever and really charge up a glow lure well.

Can’t go wrong with Glow Red at night. By far my best night color. How much glow the fish wants changes from one night to the next – It’s not always the brighest – some nights they want just a little glow.

sounds sad but the best luck i have had at night, evening bite is just a plain red hook and a split shot with a shiner on it. about 8 inches between the shiner and split shot. no bobber, but just make sure you have a rod holder or it will go down the hole. no jigging let the shiner do all the work.

Pool 8 for me and after dark it would be…..

    #8 Pink/White Shrimpo tipped with a waxie.
#6 or #4 Pink Glow Bright Demon Jigging Spoon tipped with a minnow head.

I would also fan out dead sticks or beaver dams in very well working order, using a whole minnow (medium sized) on a #12 gold treble.

It can be tough to find a night bite for specks on pool 8 anymore. I wish you guys the best of luck and look forward to your findings…good or bad
