Lazer mag handle

I purchased a new Lazer Mag 2 year and just started using last week. Its drilled no more then 25 holes and the handle snapped right at the base near the mounting. I was concerned about that when I saw the cheap looking plastic handle. I could understand if it had been bouncing around in the sled or being banged around, but this thing literally has had a nice soft ride in the truck 3 times. I’m not excieted about putting $40 into a new one only to have it break again. I did a very quick search to see if there is an aftermarket metal one, but didnt find anything.

Any ideas? Anyone else have this problem or did I just get the one with a fluke weak spot?

Anyone know where I can get a better deal then the $37.50 off the strikemaster site?

    Thanks.

You won’t have to buy anything if your auger is as new as you stated. It will be under warranty. Call Strikemaster on monday and let them know what happened. You should have a new one by wednesday.

Here’s the Customer Service page at SM with links to resources on just about any question you might have on your auger >>> http://www.strikemaster.com/customersupport_menu.html

Is your auger a current model year auger? I’m not quite sure based on the sentence quoted above. The reason I ask is SM changed the composite used in the handles and this is the first broken handle I’ve heard of this season.

no fluke, my electra lazer broke in the same spot. I handle my equipment with kid gloves and I don’t know how I broke mine. I had to order my replacement from strikemaster, over 50 dollars including shipping. they may have improved the composite material used to make the handle. my new one looks different and has been reinforced around the area that it broke.

Yup, they did. Again, I’ve not heard of any broken handles on a 2010 auger so that’s why I was curious about the age of AJ’s auger. Not saying it can’t be done or that someone couldn’t get one with a molding defect but the change sure seems to have solved 99.9% of the issues anyway.

I bought the same auger three years ago and I beat the heck out of mine and it is just fine. Even fell off the tail gate of the truck once. I’m sure theres a posability yours had a flaw in it but anything ive broke on my auger strike master has taken care of. Don’t be afraid to tell them you think they should take care of it for you.

I have the last year of the Tecumseh engine, right before they went to the Solo. Of course I didnt save any paperwork. I will give Strikemaster a call and see what they say anyway. Good news is that sounds like there is a better handle out now! Buying one wont bother me if I know they have been changed to deal with this issue.

    Thanks James.
